A career in Content Marketing is a strategic marketing role and is all about managing online content platforms and implementing thoughtful strategy across a number of media platforms. This role includes social media management, copywriting, search engine optimisation and general day-to-day creativity. Content jobs can be agency based or in-house where you’ll work directly for one organisation.

You will support the Marketing or Creative Manager across a range of projects and campaigns.
 
What a career or job in Content Strategy may entail…
As an agency-based Content Strategist, you'll be consulting with clients, ensuring that they're in line with best practice to the content strategy approach. You'll be conducting detailed audits across all customer touchpoints for your clients, or your business (if you’re based in-house) - from web copy to press releases, email marketing to social media and everything in between - helping them to see how they're performing compared to competitors, how well-aligned they are with customer expectations in various channels and ensuring that they have a detailed content marketing strategy in place moving forward.
 
Often working as part of a team and reporting into a Content Manager, your role will involve managing the presence of your clients' brands or your business' brand online. This means you produce content, you write copy and create the content that your audience will see. The role often extends to content responsibility across specific areas of the website such as blogs and other tools.

Salary Benchmarks
At an entry level, junior/graduate Content Executives on average will be earning between £18k-20k. At the mid-level you’d be looking to earn £25k-£30k and seniors would be looking to earn £40k+.
 
Is it right for me? The skills it takes...
The skills needed to work in content production are broad as the role is so varied. You will need to be a diverse writer that is able to write persuasive copy of various length in different tones of voice. You’ll need to be skilled at analysing and measuring, in order to produce reports. Deadlines also play a big part in this line of work.
 
What qualifications does it take?
You will usually need a foundation degree or diploma or experience within a relevant subject. These include communications, marketing, English, PR and creative writing.

We’re looking for an impressive Content Executive to join a highly esteemed outdoor and adventure brand who continue to grow from strength to strength. Based just outside Bristol, this business have some very exciting plans on the cards so it’s the perfect time to get on board. What you’ll be doing As Content Executive your role will be split between creating inspiring content to promote a range of brands, producing product copy for the website and writing engaging blog posts, ensuring content is SEO optimised along the way. Day to day you’ll get stuck in reporting on events, producing style articles, detailed brand culture pieces and product first-looks as well as creating descriptive product summaries. This is a creative, dynamic role within the eCommerce team - you’ll need to work autonomously and be able to juggle multiple tasks at once in order to produce high-quality writing to tight deadlines. What experience you’ll need You’ll ideally come from an eCommerce background or sports focused business – either way you’ll have strong copywriting skills and a passion for writing. Proven experience in a content role – maybe you’re currently working in an eCommerce product content/merchandising role and looking for something more creative. Knowledge of SEO would be ideal but this is not essential. An interest in outdoors/sports would be very beneficial. First rate written communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Strong project management/time management skills. What you’ll get in return for your talents Salary will entirely depend on experience, but will be in the region of £20-25k. Excellent culture and opportunities for development.  Established digital team.    This business is a market leader with a number of stores across the UK and an established eCommerce offering. They are looking for an additional eCommerce Copywriter team due to the growth of their sales online. As the business is multichannel in nature, there is scope to work across different types of content, giving the role lots of variety. What you’ll be doingYou’ll work primarily as part of the Content team; however liaise closely with the wider eCommerce and Digital Marketing functions. With both stores across the UK and a thriving eCommerce offering, your role will be to create content which engages the customer, raising the profile of the brand and ultimately moving the customer closer to purchase. Content will take lots of different forms, including product descriptions, SEO copy, buying guides, advertorials, and brand messaging for stores and the website. The business has 4 main eCommerce sites, each with a different tone of voice, so you’ll need to tailor your approach depending on which brand and format.     Senior Marketing Manager

Here is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Marketing Manager to join a fantastic small business in central Bristol as their new Senior Marketing Manager.  This is an autonomous role and so you will be expected to work on the strategy and plans as well as the campaign execution.  Working within a professional services environment, this is unlike any business within their sector and they are truly disrupting the market. What you'll be doing This is a broad 360 role where you will be responsible for all of the actions within the department.  Using all of your experience you will create the marketing strategy and write the marketing plan.  You will take an inbound marketing approach by having an effective content strategy with regular pieces going out across the website and social media.  At times you will need to utilise your strong copywriting skills, and other times you will lean on the specialists within the team. From a digital marketing perspective you will own the website and ensure all content is optimised for SEO.  You will generate interactive content across videos and infographics, and will manage the company LinkedIn account.  There is currently no CRM in place and you will look to source and implement a CRM and begin the email marketing program through Mailchimp. Paid social experience is key - knowledge of one or more bid management platforms would be very valuable. Agency experience/account management/stakeholder management experience would be very beneficial. A self-starter than can work just as well autonomously but collaboratively as part of a wider team. Proven experience with web analytics packages such as Google Analytics. Strategic and commercially minded in planning and analysis. Very strong communicator with a flair for writing.
