A career in Content Marketing is a strategic marketing role and is all about managing online content platforms and implementing thoughtful strategy across a number of media platforms. This role includes social media management, copywriting, search engine optimisation and general day-to-day creativity. Content jobs can be agency based or in-house where you’ll work directly for one organisation.

What a career or job in Content Strategy may entail…
As an agency-based Content Strategist, you'll be consulting with clients, ensuring that they're in line with best practice to the content strategy approach. You'll be conducting detailed audits across all customer touchpoints for your clients, or your business (if you’re based in-house) - from web copy to press releases, email marketing to social media and everything in between - helping them to see how they're performing compared to competitors, how well-aligned they are with customer expectations in various channels and ensuring that they have a detailed content marketing strategy in place moving forward.
Often working as part of a team and reporting into a Content Manager, your role will involve managing the presence of your clients' brands or your business' brand online. This means you produce content, you write copy and create the content that your audience will see. The role often extends to content responsibility across specific areas of the website such as blogs and other tools.

At an entry level, junior/graduate Content Executives on average will be earning between £18k-20k. At the mid-level you’d be looking to earn £25k-£30k and seniors would be looking to earn £40k+.
Is it right for me? The skills it takes...
The skills needed to work in content production are broad as the role is so varied. You will need to be a diverse writer that is able to write persuasive copy of various length in different tones of voice. You’ll need to be skilled at analysing and measuring, in order to produce reports. Deadlines also play a big part in this line of work.
What qualifications does it take?
You will usually need a foundation degree or diploma or experience within a relevant subject. These include communications, marketing, English, PR and creative writing.

What you’ll be doingYou’ll work primarily as part of the Content team; however liaise closely with the wider eCommerce and Digital Marketing functions.
