We’re looking for a UX / UI Designer to join an entrepeneaurial team in Wiltshire. What you’ll be doing In this role you’ll join a small but growing team of technical experts designing B2B and B2B2C web and native applications. This is an exciting time to join, the product is already in use and some major new customers have been acquired leading to millions in new revenue. As it stands, you’ll be working with the product owner, a small team of senior developers and a QA lead. Up until now design and development has been outsourced to get the product in good shape, the next step is bringing everything in-house.As part of a small team the UX/UI Designer will have a multifaceted role and support the senior developers and product owner in creating the best user experience possible across all products. The product will be used by a wide variety of users and you’ll be working on features that handle payments, IoT integration, insight, analytics and logistics for their customers. Getting in at ground level you’ll be instrumental in shaping the visual design of the product and in defining the approach to research and testing. With a product in its infancy, the approach is likely to be lean and evolve over time and you won’t need to be an expert in research from day one. The founder is experienced in design too so you’ll have support and the space allowed to grow into a leadership role further down the line. What you’ll need to be considered Experience of working in a multidisciplinary design role encompasses user interface design and user experience practices A portfolio of digital products, native app is useful but responsive and mobile first as a minimum. Experience of wireframing, prototyping, storyboarding. Proven experience creating style guides, pattern libraries and ideally design systems. Any experience of working Agile beneficial. Some exposure to user testing and user research hugely beneficial. Confident with an array of modern design tools (e.g Sketch, Adobe CC, Figma etc). What you’ll be doing Joining a small but growing product team your focus will be on creating and refining user interfaces across a network of eCommerce sites and membership services. The focus in this role will largely be on front end visuals but you’ll need to be driven by analytics and iterative in your design process. You’ll work closely with other areas of the business to understand key conversion and optimisation metrics and use these to improve your designs. There are two positions available; one focussed on bringing fundamental energy services to their members, the other on creating tools that help people understand and reduce their carbon footprint. The team is on a mission to a net zero carbon future and these roles are an exciting opportunity to get involved. UX as a function is decentralised; this means that design specialists are embedded within teams that have a shared mission or product focus. You’ll be part of a tight knit design community but have the benefit from really getting under the skin of a specific challenge or in understanding a subset of users in great detail. What you’ll be doing The designer will be sat amongst a growing UX & design department. This centralised team supports the business across all of its digital products and services; this includes a customer facing website, an app, internal business systems and customer acquisition / management tools. In the future there is potential to be involved in projects involving connected homes and the internet of things. As it stands all designers in the team have skills in UX and UI. This means you will support the entire design process; from discovery and research through wireframing and prototyping and finally to the high-fidelity visuals. User research within the business is largely remote user testing and guerrilla testing on site with existing customers. More extensive research projects are run by a number of highly respected local agency partners and led by the head of UX.
