It’s a very exciting time to join, there’s lots of cool tech in the company and a very talented bunch of engineers to be connected to!  What experience you'll need Essential Proven background in JavaScript / TypeScript.  Modern front-end JavaScript library, ideally React.  Well-versed with NodeJS on the server-side. Desire to work in an agile, highly collaborative start-up environment. Desire to learn new tech and share your knowledge with the team. You will have tested your own code before. Desirable Knowledge of cloud-native development, preferably Google.  Experience with SQL databases. Use or knowledge of Microservices architecture. What you’ll be doing The technical challenges range from building and growing an online marketplace, as well as making improvements to digital visitor experience. The products are very much user-facing so an eye for usability is key. There is a mobile app and a bespoke web app – every developer is able to deliver entire vertical features from databases, deployments, services and the front-end. React and React Native are used on the front-end, backed by a GraphQL API implemented with NodeJS with Postgres running on Kubernetes. The development team has a tendency towards functional style of programming (with pair programming) and focus on testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery. You will be part of a team of full-stack engineers, with a high degree of autonomy across the full stack. Rewarding project base serving into the NHS.  Brand-new team, first in-house developer.  I’m helping an established Healthcare business in Bristol to find a Web Developer as they look to bring their development in-house. The business provides a variety of disability aids, working closely with the NHS meaning they’ve been incredibly busy throughout 2020. This will be their first internal dev hire, offering lots of autonomy and growth, reporting into the Marketing Director.  What skills you’ll need Understanding of content management systems, happy with either WordPress, Umbraco, Sitecore, Shopify or similar.  Skilled in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.  Knowledge of creating traffic to website using Node/Express or similar.  Any knowledge of PHP, Vue and SQL would be desirable. Eye for UI/UX with ability to create responsive/adaptive web designs.  Cross-browser and cross-device experience.  What you’ll be doing As the first in-house developer you will be given sole responsibility for creating multiple brand and eCommerce-based websites from scratch. You’ll own the front and back-ends, taking control of UI/UX as well as adding new features and functionalities in line with the visions of the product team that you’ll be connected to. This role sits in their marketing team and upholding brand standards is important; there is a lot of variety which includes managing websites for the business and its subsidiaries. On top of this you’ll be working closely with internal stakeholders in an Agile manner, involving yourself in planning sessions and constantly looking to improve site performance, ensuring all work is tested to maintain quality throughout.  What you’ll get in return for your experience This role is fully remote with the occasional trip to the Bristol office. The client is looking for a Senior Business Analyst, who is able to view the big picture of the re-platforming but have a super analytical approach to gathering business requirements. You will chair/ lead meetings with stakeholders and drive the project through the early stages and beyond. This is a fast-paced, agile business that works in two-week sprints. Serverless functions a plus.  CI/CD and containerisation (Docker).  Any AI knowledge is advantageous, particularly with Google tech (Tensorflow, Magenta etc.). What you’ll be doing As the sole back-end engineer, you’ll be given a lot autonomy and control over technical direction as the business looks to build out the premium functionality of their app before going to market. They plan to use Google’s analytics and machine learning tech to add various complexities which includes a new function that offers analytics into user’s pitch, rhythm and sound. They’re also looking at growing a social network on the app where users can communicate with each other, as well as giving users a chance to upload their own audio later down the line for more enhanced views into where they can improve things. The back-end is still reasonably immature, they’d love to be using TypeScript but are comfortable giving you the reign on back-end tech decisions moving forward (so long as it aligns with product vision!). There are so many plans in the pipeline and you’d be at the forefront of building it all.  What you’ll get in return for your talents The business are very remote friendly, they’re happy for you to be majority home-based with the odd trip to the studio when required.
