A fast-growing robotics company focused in decommissioning sectors are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the highly experienced web development team in Bristol to support the development of their data delivery platform. They have ambitious plans and are looking for a DevOps engineer who is passionate about their work and wants to deliver highly scalable infrastructure. What skills you’ll need In a perfect world you will be working tirelessly with Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will have significant knowledge of Linux systems such as Ubuntu or even Debian. Ideally you will have worked with Linux security and image hardening. Demonstrable passion and experience of working with infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation. Hopefully you have been logging applications using ELK. What you’ll be doing You will be joining a web development team to help support the development of a browser-based data management system that provides data to wide range of tech for good clients and also help support the R&D team’s work as well. For this role you will have a strong track record in Linux system administration, AWS and docker. This is a multi-disciplinary role with a primary focus on the infrastructure and environment management, you will act as an advocate for DevOps practices across any project they embark on. As they continue to grow their business with scope to double in size over the next 3 years, this is a unique opportunity for an established specialist to join an exciting division with constant training & development. Please note, for this role the business are considering Python/NodeJS/C# Developers who are interested in cross-training to Platform Engineering.  What skills you’ll need Software Engineering background using Python. NodeJS/C# would also be considered.  Knowledge of Jenkins, or similar, for continuous integration & orchestration.  Experience with AWS and the associated tech surrounding it (EC2, ECS, Lambda, CloudFormation, Cloudfront, Elasticache etc.) Understanding of deployment automation, using Octopus Deploy or similar.  Containerisation knowledge – Docker, Kubernetes etc. Any experience with Grafana or Splunk would be handy, but not a must.  Evidence of keeping up to date with the latest industry trends, emerging tech and being pro-active in learning new skills, particularly with reference to connected products, containerisation, serverless, microservices and CI. What you’ll be doing Working alongside the software engineering team, you will support the design, build & deployment of various services to production, offering operational support to allow continuous improvement across customer experience. This is a global business with multi-national development teams and countless products all connected to a large IoT platform, so adaptability is key. It’s expected that you will take ownership of deployment automation, CI/CD, containerisation and system analysis (Splunk), working in a highly Agile environment utilising a Scrum methodology.  No day is the same in this role, there are a broad range of systems & technologies to involve yourself with, you’ll be constantly keeping an awareness of new and emerging technology/trends. As part of this they’re also looking to ways technology can improve their business and are looking for an experienced DevOps practioner to join them. What Skills you’ll be needing Commercial exposure to cloud technologies, ideally Amazon Web Services (AWS), but will also consider Google Cloud, Azure or Digital Ocean. Significant knowledge of CI/CD (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.) and containerisation, ideally with Docker/Kubernetes. Demonstratable awareness of various configuration, build and automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt, Selenium, Terraform etc.  Linux/Windows system administration and scripting skills   Background in building, maintaining, monitoring & scaling web/cloud based platforms. Knowledge of coding PHP and Javascript. Commercial awareness to Agile/Scrum environments and working methodologies. What you’ll be doing As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll working collaboratively with project and software teams to drive the development and deployment environment and processes. You’ll be at forefront of improving their development processes, taking ownership of the design, maintenance and deployment of their dev environments using open source technology. You’ll also manage and create workflows for continuous integration, testing, and deployment.  As their Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll also key role in the testing and deployment of  thier  bespoke business systems used across the UK and Europe.  What you’ll get in return for your efforts You’ll be offered a competitive salary of up to £65,000 with bonus - 10%.
