    Full-Stack AWS Engineer

This Tech4Good business are looking to bring their development in-house to further improve their product and as part of that transition are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer with AWS skills to join them. What skills you’ll be needing JavaScript/ES6 with cloud-native development experience.  Proven knowledge of Angular 7; any understanding of v9 would be useful.  NodeJS and TypeScript expertise.  AWS/Lambda with the ability to deploy solutions within AWS. Awareness of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD and build/deployment automation. Webpack, Grunt/Gulp, TDD, automated testing.  Any knowledge of voice chatbot applications would be highly beneficial but not essential.  What you’ll be doing As the first in-house developer you’ll be given a lot of autonomy and control over technical direction of the product. You’ll be taking ownership of a back-end API of a care portal solution which you’ll then integrate into their application suite, as well as looking after the front-end aspects with usability being at the forefront of their focus due to the customer-base. You’ll act as Product Owner, working closely with the Development Manager to design and implement new features, contributing to functional and non-functional design and advising senior managers on challenges, complexities and implementations. There are ambitious growth plans for the team after this hire so it’s expected that you’ll be able to help build coding standards and policies, advocating best practices and mentoring juniors in the team as and when they join. Currently around 20 in Bristol including 8 developers they are looking for a talented DevOps Engineer for the Bristol office. Their AWS infrastructure is very much in place - this is a chance to grow it in Bristol, help drive their cloud platform as the company continues its success and growth. What experience you’ll need Previous experience in AWS based DevOps/Infrastructure. Terraform. Understanding or experience of Kubernetes. Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery processes and improvements. Configuration management, IaC principles. You will be very self-motivated with attention to detail. You must be able to communicate well with the extended engineering teams abroad. Any experience with Python would be a bonus. Passion for the latest trends in technologies and an interest in learning. Ideally you will be able to help grow a team in the future. Being proactive with networking events/meetups would be very helpful. What you’ll be doing They’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to help drive their current cloud platform infrastructure design, build, scale-out and operationalisation. They are currently using AWS but are evolving towards a cloud provider agnostic solution. They have a service orientated architecture that covers many functional areas such as workflow, messaging and complex data science workloads. They use infrastructure s code throughout and security engineering is paramount, you must understand the core fundamentals. As they are continuously evolving how they design and build platform apps there will be opportunities to develop new skills and introduce new technologies to the team. On a weekly basis you will be working closes with the development team and the extended team abroad. The company have agile processes; the team operates like a start-up rather than a corporate engineering organisation. With continued growth in their Bristol team, they need an ELK Integration/DevOps Engineer to be involved in infrastructure delivery and data store/solution management. It’s a small team of 10-15 people with a lot of talent to offer. What skills you’ll need Significant experience with Elasticsearch stack and enterprise production.  Proven scripting knowledge using Elasticsearch & Kibana.  Background in a DevOps/Sysadmin role in Linux environments.  Understanding of AWS (EC2, Lambda). Advocate for IaC, automation & CI/CD (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform). Ability to read code, preferably PHP/Node/Python. Coding experience nice to have.  What you’ll be doing You’ll be responsible for managing ELK data stores & solutions as well as involving yourself in the delivery of a range of infrastructure projects. You’ll look after all aspects of Elasticsearch clusters, acting as a bridge between the development/ops teams and operating in a heavily DevOps-oriented culture. Other responsibilities include providing support to the DevOps team using things like Ansible & other forms of IaC, supporting data requirements and developing Kibana dashboards to provide insight into product operations. Their patented technology positions them with a huge offering with Government backing, which brings a need for new hires to play an integral part in creating & enhancing their digital products.  What skills you’ll need Experience with AWS and its associated tech (EC2, S3, RDS, EFS, Route53, Lambda)  Knowledge of IaC, ability to use Terraform for automating cloud builds.  Ability to build & manage Puppet workflows & modules.  Ability to read & write code to a proficient level, flexible on language. You’ll offer expertise in designing, building and managing CI/CD, acting as an advocate for DevOps best practice and supporting the business in integrating new & emerging technology to ensure the business remains progressive as they look to enhance their product offering. There's a real emphasis on helping techies grow their skills and there will be support for training / courses and to learn new tech and best practice.  What skills you’ll be needing Ability to create automated build/deployment pipelines using Octopus/Azure DevOps.  Skilled in building infrastructure from code using Ansible or Terraform.  Development experience using MS & front-end technologies; C#, .Net Core, WCF, HTML, CSS, jQuery.  Experience with MS Azure and public cloud.  Understanding of API development & utilisation.  Awareness of things like JIRA/Slack for planning, as well as automated testing principles relating to build & deployment.  Scripting experience, ideally Bash, PowerShell or similar.  Any knowledge of Docker containers and networking is desirable.  What you’ll be doing Your primary responsibility will be to support the development team in creating automated build & deployment pipelines from the ground up, in order to optimise software delivery. You’ll be configuring infrastructure and utilising APIs to deliver solutions which are developed both internally and via 3rd party cloud services. You’ll be owning deployments across multiple environments, working closely with the wider digital team to offer advice & expertise on best practices, as well as involving yourself in code reviews. This role sits in between development & operations, so you’ll need an adaptable mindset with an ability to liaise with different teams and stakeholders to ensure timescale estimates are on-track and that delivery is at the highest possible level. Automation is a massive focus for the business so it’s expected that you will act as an advocate for other teams. They don’t plan on stopping there! What skills you’ll be needing Proven experience in test automation strategy for mobile apps (iOS/Android). Ability to support automated app releases to iOS & Android apps.  Significant knowledge of Selenium or Appium automation frameworks.  Knowledge of CI/CD using things like Jenkins, CircleCI or BuildKite.  Understanding of Swift/Kotlin for producing mobile apps, including things like Xcode & Gradle for builds.  Scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, Bash or Perl. Awareness of the full SDLC with strong stakeholder management skills.  Any experience with TDD/BDD, Google Cloud/Firebase and project management would be desirable.  What you’ll be doing Joining a large digital function and communicating with different sub-teams internally, you’ll help to automate the delivery & testing of the business’ native mobile apps, which involves setting up a test automation strategy and building tools to support automated app releases of a recently launched product across both iOS & Android. The goal is to create a fully automated process to ensure a friendly experience for their user base, it’s expected that you’ll liaise closely with the development & product teams to identify instances that could be automated, as well as resolving any defects and using well-structured manual testing approaches where necessary. You’ll manage things through all phases, with involvement from end-to-end delivery so communication skills are very important.
