What a career or job in digital client services may entail…
All roles in client services will be varied in every organisation but the below job examples will give you a better idea of what you could be doing depending on your professional level.
 
Digital: For example, as a digital account executive you'll support one or a team of account managers with projects within an agency. Sometimes working on one major client account or a diverse portfolio of clients. You'll often work in a fast-paced environment, with the ambition to continuously develop your digital knowledge and skills. In everything you do, you put clients’ needs at the forefront.
 
If you progress towards a digital account manager role, you'll often work closely with the wider agency client service, planning dev and project management teams. You will play a lead role in the delivery of digital campaigns and web builds for B2C and/or B2B audiences. You'll need a solid understanding of all things digital as it'll be down to you to communicate progress to your clients, as well as managing expectations and problem solving when needed.
 
On a more senior level (account director), you'll nurture existing client relationships with a hands-on approach. You'll provide professional, planned and responsive direction for your portfolio or clients. It’ll be down to you to develop client plans and to take ownership of the client revenue targets. You'll help deliver fantastic projects for key clients, planning and tracking projects to maximise profitability. Developing and nurturing relationships at a senior level will be at the core of what you do and you'll be able to confidently discuss brand strategy opportunities and challenges.
 
Agency: An agency based client services director will enjoy being hands-on in the delivery of often digital marketing campaigns. You’ll be working in a fast paced, team orientated environment, ensuring that the client services team are firing on all fronts. You’ll be the pivot between the senior management team and a sizeable account team, supporting, guiding and mentoring, whilst equally enjoying getting amongst client activity and driving success.

Salary Benchmarks
At an entry level, junior/graduate digital client executive on average will be earning between £18k-£20k. At mid-level you’d be looking to earn £25k-£35k and seniors would be looking to earn £40k+.

To work in digital client services, you will need to have strong communication skills, and an attentive, timekeeping mindset. You’ll be a strategically minded and proactive in order to anticipate client requirements.
 
What qualifications does it take?
To work in client services, you will usually require an undergraduate degree, ideally in marketing however there is no specific need here. A passion for the industry and marketing as a whole is of greater importance.
