Route One has been bringing together the best in skate culture and street fashion for over 30 years now. An award winning, independent, multi-channel retailer selling the best global skate brands as well as their own respected in-house range, they believe in sustainable fashion and are part of the 1% for the Planet global network. With 8 regional city stores across the UK and a strong online offering, they are looking for a passionate marketing specialist to help drive their next phase of growth. 

What you’ll be doing  

The Head of Marketing will be responsible for developing, supporting, and delivering the marketing strategy to drive customer growth and brand engagement via a range of channels. 

The ideal candidate will be both creative and commercially minded, work well under pressure and be up to date with cutting edge marketing techniques and consumer behaviour in a competitive industry. The role would suit a driven individual with a passion for eCommerce, marketing and the desire to be part of a successful and modern retailer.  

Sitting alongside the management team, and reporting directly into the MD, the Head of Marketing will have responsibility for the company’s loyalty programmes, customer acquisition and retention.  

Given the significance of digital consumer engagement in the business’ expansion, you’ll be well-versed in digital marketing and can develop an effective strategy to drive customers to both the eCommerce and retail stores.  You’ll have the support of digital agencies to implement campaigns, such as PPC & Social, and will be expected to manage and maintain these relationships.  

Another key part of your role will be to capture the attention of a relatively young demographic through highly targeted and authentic marketing, with the aim of building a loyal customer base. You’ll need to have an excellent understanding of how they relate to individual brands and create impactful stories which resonate in a way that leads to increased engagement.

To do this, you’ll build strong, strategic relationships with brand partners, talking and meeting with them regularly to successfully implement the agreed marketing plan. Whilst 70% of this will be through digital channels, you’ll also pull through relevant material to the retail stores to ensure consistent brand representation.  

What experience you’ll need to apply:

  • Experience delivering successful marketing strategies for a dynamic retailer, predominantly through digital channels.  
  • Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Strong creative flair and vision. 
  • Self-motivated, uses initiative and is a problem solver. 
  • Ability to think commercially and prioritise tasks effectively.  
  • Knowledge of skate, streetwear, sneaker culture and social trends would be great.  
  • Interest in sustainability and ethical work practices. 

What you’ll get in return for your experience   

Salary is negotiable but as this is dependent upon experience, please still apply if you’re looking for more, as the package will be created on a case-by-case basis. The company offers a hybrid working policy, so you’ll need to enjoy being collaborative in an office environment and be able to commute to the Head Office in South Gloucestershire when not Working from Home.
