Here is a rare opportunity to join a high end creative business in Bath as their new Business Manager. Working with some exceptional products, brands and licenses, you will continually develop the core product offering, but will look to maximise opportunities with the current licensors and explore new line extension opportunities. The successful candidate is likely to come from a product management, category management or license management background.
What you'll be doing
This area of the business focuses on premium gift packaging with well-known designer licensors. With a couple of product launches each year, you will work on a product strategy with existing and new licenses, ensuring the range is fresh, premium and in line with market trends.
You will use your natural creativity to develop beautiful ranges, to select imagery, designs, colour, typography, and this extends to licensed gift cards as well as gift packaging but could also extend into well thought out other categories. Knowing what a good product looks like, and where it sits alongside other products, without cannibalising sales, in a market full of complexity is key to the success of this role.
A vital part of this role is relationship management, keeping the licensors happy, whilst ensuring the products being developed are relevant for this sector and release, true to the original concept and design, and commercial. There are strict deadlines to hit, critical paths to manage, and you will need to liaise regularly with internal stakeholders as much as the licensors.
As well as having a creative eye and understanding what a good product looks like, you will be highly commercial and will own the P&L. You will get involved in a lot of areas of the business, including forecasting, stock management, reorders, licensing agreements, budgets, pricing strategies and customer meetings and will also work with marketing on product launch strategies.
As part of a much wider group, there is an opportunity to license the in house designs into other categories and this is something you will explore alongside your other duties. This is a pivotal role for the business which requires exceptional communication skills, tact, persuasion, teamwork, creativity and a good head for numbers!
