A rapidly expanding and market leading software business in central Bath are looking continue growing their team with the addition of a Java Developer, primarily working on their hugely successful product as well as helping to develop their new products moving forward.  If you’re looking for a company that needs self-reliant and enthusiastic staff, happy to get stuck in with a variety of business needs, then this is the role for you. What skills you’ll need

You’ll need strong skills working as a Back-End Developer, primarily based around Java. You’ll have had to have designed and developed applications using JavaEE. You’ll also need core experience in developing web apps using at least one common web framework, such as JSF, Wicket, GWT or Spring MVC. A strong understanding of Relational Databases will be important, as well as good knowledge of NoSQL. You’ll need to be familiar with Object Orientated analysis and design. You’ll also have the chance to learn and use Scala and functional programming skills so any experience with those would be a bonus but in no way essential for any application.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be a core member of the team helping develop and maintaining their current product and will eventually look to move on to further versions as they are created. You’ll be contributing to all phases of the development cycle, helping to build high-quality, scalable software applications. Guaranteeing that all code will pass rigorous standards will be key to the role, ensuring well-designed and efficient code that follows the required specifications agreed with other teams and clients. You’ll prepare and assist in the production of further software component releases as well as keeping up to date with new tech and practices to suggest improvements within the business and tech stack.
