We’re looking for a Digital Product Designer to join a Bristol based start-up. Part of a wider team of design specialists this role will focus on creating internal tools and systems including a CMS and data management tool; it’s all about making access to data and complex information simple; a problem solvers dream!
What you’ll be doing
As a Digital Product Designer within a start-up you’ll play a multi-faceted role that encompasses research, testing, prototyping and high-fidelity design. You won’t need to be an expert in each area, but you will need a breadth of experience that touches on all parts of the product design lifecycle. Most importantly you’ll need to be a design thinker rather than just focussed on the visuals and keen to test with your users.
For this particular role we’re looking for someone that’s interested in data, creating systems and making sense of complex information. You’ll be enabling the growth of the customer facing product and ensuring the tools and systems being used are scalable and work for everyone in the team.
The product is still in its infancy in many ways but over the last couple of years its users have skyrocketed. The team is always looking for more creative ways to connect people all over with one another, to talk about their passions and creations, to learn and to share. What experience you’ll need
- Proven experience in digital product design and exposure to the whole product design lifecycle.
- A good visual designer but driven and fascinated by your users; keen to research, learn, test and iterate every step of the way.
- Experience of working on complex systems or data management tools.
- Experience with modern design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Figma, XD etc).
- Ideally have worked in cross functional agile teams in the past.
- Comfortable working at pace and within a changing environment.
- Experience of creating and optimising content management systems beneficial.

It's an exciting time to join the business as they continue to invest in user experience in-house, now home to content design, research, visual design and service design. What you’ll be doing This role will sit on the user centred design team and focus specifically on accessibility. You will help define and promote accessibility best practice across the business and work with teams across the busines including product, engineering and marketing to educate and implement accessible designs. Building truly accessible practice means building real understanding and educating others. You’ll work closely with researchers and 3rd party accessibility experts to understand a wide variety of access needs, conduct reviews and audits of current journeys and connect with teams across the business to share knowledge, embedding best practice. Joining a maturing UX culture means being a real advocate for user centred design and agile product design practices, you’ll be a great communicator and used to working with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds as well as users with diverse needs. The business has taken a user centred approach to design for some years and the fruits of this work are paying off. You’ll be joining a defined user centred design practice of over 20 people spanning content design, research, service design, UX design and visual design. What experience you’ll need to apply A real passion for creating truly accessible experiences online. Excellent knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Knowledge of assistive technologies and services across different platforms. Have contributed to a design system in the past. A great communicator, able to collaborate with people of all backgrounds and act as an accessibility advocate to others. Knowledge of user agency and automated accessability verification tools.
