An exciting and rare opportunity has come up an Innovation Lab here in Bristol to be the Lead in data engineering and architecture. This team of intuitive engineers and scientists have the resources to spin-out companies that are focused on digital and data accelerators.

What you’ll be doing

The Innovation Director is looking for someone who is curious, inquisitive and always looking to develop themselves as the role is going to be open-ended as possible.

The team will be focused on the research and development of new products and/or supporting start-ups through the product life cycle. You will innovate and design, prototype, test with customers and eventually take to the market across any area, with any tech stack that you or the team feel is most suited to the solution.

To work as efficiently as possible, the week will be split into two:
-        3 days of researching, building, and prototyping-related activities.
-        2 days for debating ideas and any developments you have seen in technology or markets. No emails, calls or admin - just ideas.

Given the nature of the team and role, you’ll get to work across multiple programming languages, Cloud and open-source technologies.

What you’ll need to apply

There are no seniority prerequisites coming in from the Innovation Directory other than the ability to develop yourself and lead from the front on data infrastructure. They are looking at people from juniors right up to 10 years plus. The important thing is culture.

  • Ability to design and develop data and digital services/products
  • Creative, investigative and proactive
  • Active contributor to your field, work, or academia
  • Examples of systems built or PoCs
  • A Technologist at heart

What you’ll get in return for your experience

A salary of up to £80k plus bonus and benefits and the chance to work on anything and everything in the technology landscape. The expectation is 2/3 days per week in the office as this is a start-up environment and collaboration and innovation are essential.
