An exciting Bristol based start-up is looking for an ambitious Front-End Developer (React) to join the growing team at their new offices. Historically the team has worked remotely but now having their own space, they are looking to bring everything in-house. The team has already grown from one to six over the last few months, but with their websites seeing over 2 million users each month, there is still demand for a Full Stack Developer to join them. There’s a real emphasis on collaboration in the office and you’ll be actively encouraged to share idea’s & technical insight, whether this leads to changes to the tech stack or best practises, your opinion will be valued equally to that of longer standing members.
What experience you'll need
- Previous experience using React. Knowledge of other front-end libraries would be beneficial.
- An understanding of web standards, security, SEO & accessibility.
- Exposure to DevOps practises (Docker, AWS, CI/CD) would be advantageous.
- An awareness of Agile/SCRUM methodologies
What you'll be doing
Joining the new in-house development team an you will head-up the front-end development and be a key player in the rebuild of one of the company’s longest standing websites. Originally developed using WordPress, the site has been passed through many hands so they’re looking to develop it from scratch in React. As the front-end developer you will be called on for your expertise and will guide technical decisions, implement best practises and ultimately have huge influence overthe technical direction of the company. The office is new and the team is currently small so your ideas on the use of new/emerging tech, process improvements and problem solving will be highly appreciated. Collaboration is at the heart of what they do here and you will be expected to act as a mentor to fellow developers when it comes to the front-end and share your knowledge with the team. Further, you will assist with coding, testing & deployment.
What you'll get in return for your talents
You'll be offered generous holiday allowance and salary (up to £45k) and the chance to develop your tech skills in a commercial environment. The offices themselves already have the essentials like a fully stocked beer fridge, flat screen TV with PS4 & FIFA, nice chill out space and there are always on-going discussions with what to do next. They have signed boots and shirts decorating the walls and like to keep things fun; the team themselves are extremely sociable and friendly. It’s certainly not rare that you'll be treated to a meal out or a trip to a match or the races. Ultimately there's a lot of flexibility in what’s to be offered with regards to tech, R&D time and the like and you'll be able to suggest what the development team should focus on in this respect as the company grows.
