Mid-Senior Designer

We’re on the lookout for a Mid-Weight or Senior Designer to form a key part of a small agency in Bristol. The agency has been immersed in the FMCG sector for many years and with an established portfolio of clients, an experienced team and plans to grow hand-in-hand with new business, there’s a great opportunity here!

What you’ll be doing

You’ll join a knowledgeable, experienced team who have many years in FMCG and packaging under their belt. This creatively led agency is small with big impact; producing brand communications in the main, but also POS, packaging, trade and consumer literature for brands to reach an international audience.

This role forms a pivotal part of the agency, reporting into the founders directly who are both hands on with creative and working closely with the Print Production Manager. Within the small team environment you’ll be dealing with clients directly, getting under the skin of a range of briefs and delivering solutions from concept to execution.

We’re looking for a Designer from an FMCG background with experience within an agency environment, creating packaging designs and brand execution. Due to the nature of the agency’s client base, if you’ve worked with giftware, toiletries or lifestyle brands this will be a real bonus.

What experience you’ll need to apply

  • At least 4 years’ experience in a role with brand communication and packaging design core to your design output, specifically FMCG.
  • A portfolio full of brand and packaging designs – including concepts and moodboards where relevant. 
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Strategic and collaborative in your approach.
  • Experience pitching and presenting to clients.
  • Ideally some experience with Giftware, Toiletries, Lifestyle packaging.

What you’ll be doing The designer will be sat amongst a growing UX & design department. This centralised team supports the business across all of its digital products and services; this includes a customer facing website, an app, internal business systems and customer acquisition / management tools. In the future there is potential to be involved in projects involving connected homes and the internet of things. As it stands all designers in the team have skills in UX and UI. This means you will support the entire design process; from discovery and research through wireframing and prototyping and finally to the high-fidelity visuals. User research within the business is largely remote user testing and guerrilla testing on site with existing customers. More extensive research projects are run by a number of highly respected local agency partners and led by the head of UX. The client understands that applicants will come from a wide variety of backgrounds and skillsets, some of the UX and research practices can be taught but visual design skills and a knowledge of user centred design practices overall are a must. What experience you’ll need Previous experience in a digital design role; creating customer facing products and services. Good user interface design and prototyping experience, confident with tools such as Sketch, Invision, Proto.IO, Axure etc. Practical experience in or exposure to the whole digital product design lifecycle (research >  design > release > test > iterate) Open minded, creative and passionate about design and user experience.
