— eCommerce Platform Specialists
- PHP, MySQL, learn Magento2 and DevOps (AWS, Vagrant/Ansible)
- Product development, tech-driven, innovative team.
- Fun, sociable team, amazing projects.
One of Bristol's best digital product developers are looking for someone to join them in delivering quality driven e-commerce web and platform projects for some globally renowned clients. If you're keen to take advantage of on-the-job training and work to better yourself as a developer, then this is definitely the place to be. Interested?
What skills you'll need
- Commercial back-end PHP, MySQL development experience.
- LAMP/LEMP admin and an interest in DevOps (learning AWS, Vagrant, Ansible).
- Open source CMS desirable (e.g. Drupal, Magento or Wordpress etc).
- GIT source control.
- A willingness to prototype quickly, experiment and push boundaries.
What you'll be doing
As part of a talented 6-person development team you'll be working on a wide variety of project, frameworks and CMS's to build interesting, quality driven solutions. If you have a strong grounding in PHP and the appetite to learn, they'll give you full training in Magento2, DevOps (AWS, Vagrant, Ansible) and lots more. You'll be working on projects for some world-renowned clients alongside front-end, design and creative teams; this is a fantastic opportunity to learn and manage your own workload (helping to estimate, cost and innovate). They'll look to you to suggest and evaluate new tech that's fit for purpose and you'll be given time to do this in a supportive, fun environment where everyone genuinely enjoys working together. They've been migrating their workflow to a more DevOps way of working and you'll find yourself immersed in Vagrant, Ansible and AWS from day one, and they’ll help you up to speed with those if you don't already have them. This will be in an almost exclusively Linux/Nginx environment with some legacy Linux/Apache which we're phasing out. They don't expect you to be a sysadmin but a basic ability to work you around these environments will become an essential part of your daily workflow. While you’re strictly a back-end developer first and foremost, any contemporary front-end skills will be considered very favourably.
What you'll get in return for your talents
There's plenty of great perks within this role including competitive salary (£25-30K), generous holidays, pension, private health etc but the major reward within this role is to get to work on some big-name client projects within a sociable, positive team where you're really valued and job satisfaction is high. They have a very small staff turnover which says a lot about how they go about looking after their developers. There'll be opportunities for training (courses, conferences, events etc) and they’re offering somewhere to work that’s refreshingly honest, down to earth, unintimidating, inclusive as well as a limitless supply of their own brand of coffee!! They really like those who can recognise the value in a job well done, while being pragmatic and knowing when to pick their battles.
