PHP Developer

An experienced and talented PHP Developer is needed to join a sociable, progressive digital agency on a 100% remote basis. They have a really diverse client list and have produced some amazing websites, truly earning their reputation. Joining a well-established and experienced team, this is a great place to develop your skills further and work with some household names.

What experience you’ll need

  • Expertise with PHP, MySQL.
  • Knowledge or understanding of MVC frameworks (one of Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter, Zend etc.)
  • Developing complex back-end integrations with 3rd party systems from scratch using their APIs.  Work with web services, SOAP, REST APIs etc.
  • Any knowledge of WordPress CMS that would be great but not essential.
  • Linux command like knowledge/experience.
  • Solid front-end skills with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/JQuery.
  • Experience of Git and Gitlab / Github will be important to the role.

What you’ll be doing

Joining as part of their development team you’ll be have responsibility for website builds, back-end integrations and bespoke developments.  You’ll play a key role in multiple projects for a wide range of well renowned brands in an often client-facing environment.  You will be responsible for helping to deliver both new websites and updates to existing websites working on a mix of WordPress, Bespoke PHP and Laravel projects (training on any you haven’t picked up yet). They will look to you to have a methodical approach to development and testing along with a high awareness of industry standards, trends and issues.  There’ll be regular interaction with the design and account management teams and you’ll play an important part in discussions with both clients and team members over technical issues and best practices.  If you’re looking for a tech-centric development set-up and interesting projects then this is definitely one for you.

They're already making major movements in their market and following an extremely successful period of sustained growth through the pandemic they are now looking for someone to join the team to grow out the DevOps team.  Experience you'll need Experience of working with AWS based infrastructure (design, build and support). Competent with CI/CD tools e.g. Jenkins, Github Actions, Azure DevOps. Good coverage across some of; EC2, S3, Elasticache, mySQL / MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes. Solid understanding of Backup & Disaster Recovery approach and design. Project or team lead capabilities or evidence of mentoring/coaching juniors for when you grow the team. Experience working in an Agile environment. Passionate about learning the right technologies for the task. Experience working with GCloud / Azure (not essential). Experience scaling infrastructure to meet user demand. Experience with infrastructure as code. What you'll be doing This ground-breaking tech business work on user-centric, market-leading products and your role will be to help improve and scale their infrastructure for their exciting platform.  Working alongside developers, testers and designers you will play a key role in taking the business forward whilst picking up some really progressive tech.  You will be able to work with autonomy and time to research, evaluate and implement new processes in helping to build a fit-for-purpose AWS environment.  They’ll look for you to look after disaster recovery and backups and over time learn how to write automation and infrastructure as code.  You’ll need to perform well in a fast-paced environment, sharing your knowledge with others and solving problems across the business. My client is a renowned eCommerce retailer in the home improvements and interior design market, who due to continued impressive performance and growth are looking to bring on board a seasoned Product Owner. What you’ll be doing In this role you’ll be joining a business that has grown from nothing a decade ago, to one with over 150 team members with a true sense of purpose and direction. As they continue to grow, you’ll be joining the business as the first Product Owner with offers autonomy, influence and over time, an opportunity to build a team around you – really exciting stuff. From day one, you’ll be working closely with the Head of eCommerce to share some of his responsibilities and define the vision and roadmap moving forwards. You will get stuck into the continuous improvement and development of three core eCommerce websites and brands within the business and identify areas for growth. You will draw upon your previous experience as Product Owner around eCommerce builds, being a big voice in how platforms should be developed moving forwards with full stakeholder and financial support. This will involve scoping out briefs, owning and developing the roadmap, documentation, communicating changes, and offering technical insight. During build you’ll define sprint goals and prioritise and manage the development backlog, ultimately ensuring goals are met throughout. As for the team, you’ll be working closely with an experienced and talented group of project managers, business analysts, developers, QA’s, UX and design specialists. Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels, getting value from senior conversations and valuable business insight. Previous experience in running client workshops. Experience of working closely with developers as well as UX and design specialists. Consultative in your approach; able to spot opportunities in customer roadmaps, product enhancements and training.
