This is opportunity for a Research Scientist  to be part of a rapidly growing research and development focused on microbiome modulation and bacterial control using highly innovative genome editing techniques.
The post holder will work as part of a team in Bristol, dedicated to improving existing and new products. It is expected candidates will be highly accomplished molecular biologists with abundant experience in areas such as DNA assembly, molecular cloning and the engineering of bacterial genomes and large plasmids.

What you'll be doing:



  • Play a pivotal role in the design, construction, and testing of new candidate products as part of the research team.
  • Quickly generate high-quality and insightful data, information and reports that are effectively communicated to the rest of the team and line/senior management.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of technical strategies and project plans that deliver improvements with time and resource estimates.
  • Interact with Development, Analytical and QC teams to ensure achievement of the company’s overall requirements.

What experience you’ll need to apply?



  • Highly proficient in microbial molecular biology or Synthetic Biology, with expertise in either CRISPR-Cas systems and their application in bacteria or knowledge of DNA delivery mechanisms (both would be ideal).
  • PhD qualified within a similar subject field.
  • Evidence of excellent problem-solving capabilities and analytical skills.
  • Potential to manage a small team, manage complex workstreams and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Any plasmid, gene transfer, recombineering, genome evolution, transposon or phage biology would be a bonus. Additionally, understanding of the food value chain Farm to Fork would also be desirable but not essential.
