Full Stack Developer
— hugely exciting Bristol start-up
- Amazing social environment with a great team.
- Active role in development of the company, encouraged to contribute ideas on new tech/best practices.
- Ambitious company growth plans - it's a great time to join the journey!
An exciting Bristol based start-up is looking for a Full-Stack Developer to join the growing team at their new offices. Historically the team has worked remotely but now having their own space, they are looking to bring everything in-house. The team has already grown from one to five over the last few months, but with their websites seeing over 2 million users each month, there is still demand for a Full Stack Developer to join them. There’s a real emphasis on collaboration in the office and you’ll be actively encouraged to share idea’s & technical insight, whether this leads to changes to the tech stack or best practises, your opinion will be valued equally to that of longer standing members.
What experience you'll need
- Familiarity with SQL, WordPress CMS, API’s & source control would be beneficial.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines with strong written & oral communication skills is important in this role.
- Awareness of Agile/SCRUM methodologies
- A keen interest in sports and/or betting would be advantageous but by no means essential.
What you'll be doing
You'll be joining the new in-house development team and will play a key role in the continued success of their two core websites. You will assist with coding, testing & deployment as well as lending your technical expertise to suggesting new tech or best practices where appropriate. Initially, you’ll be working on improving the existing WordPress-based websites with the view to go on to develop new, sports themed websites. The office is new and the team is currently small so your ideas on the use of new/emerging tech, process improvements and problem solving will be highly appreciated and encouraged. Collaboration is at the heart of what they do therefore it is important for them that all developers are keen to contribute their knowledge & play an active role in the development of the company. They’re a social bunch who like to get together outside of work too so any ideas for socials are also strongly welcomed!
What you'll get in return for your talents
Ultimately the main draw of this role will be joining a new, exciting business at the perfect time to make a big impact. You'll be offered generous holiday allowance and salary (up to £30k) and the chance to develop your tech skills in a commercial environment. The offices themselves already have the essentials like a fully stocked beer fridge, flat screen TV with PS4 & FIFA, nice chill out space and there are always on-going discussions with what to do next. They have signed boots and shirts decorating the walls and like to keep things fun; the team themselves are extremely sociable and friendly. It’s certainly not rare that you'll be treated to a meal out or a trip to a match or the races. Ultimately there's a lot of flexibility in what’s to be offered with regards to tech, R&D time and the like and you'll be able to suggest what the development team should focus on in this respect as the company grows.
