Test Automation Engineer

One of the UKs most established financial services company is looking for two Automation Test Engineers to join their digital studio in Central Bristol. The business operates across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America, serving almost 19 million customers Worldwide. The Bristol technical team is c70 strong and you’ll be joining a relaxed but collaborative environment where remote working is encouraged.

What skills you’ll need 

  • Proven awareness experience of automated testing using Selenium.
  • Experience of working in either a Java environment & good understanding of Java development principles.
  • Ability to create and execute automation test scripts.
  • Previous experience of Intelli J or Cucumber JVM would be beneficial.
  • Proven track record of following Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) as well as TDD/BDD principles.
  • Any understanding of continuous integration and delivery is highly beneficial (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins). 

What you’ll be doing

Working in dedicated Agile project teams you’ll support the successful integration of new functionality to their brand new digital banking platform for commercial and private banking customers by delivering robust automation processes. You’ll be responsible for delivering enterprise level automation frameworks to reliably test large scale web applications and drive their digital tranformation forward. Playing a crucial role in shaping their automation approach you’ll call on your technical expertise to implement tools & best practices, enhancing features & implementing new requirements where appropriate. There’s a real emphasis on collaboration in the digital studio and you’ll be strongly encouraged to bring forward new ideas & share your knowledge with the wider team. This a role offers a lot of variety in a supportive and driven environment.

What experience you’ll need Proven experience in Python development.  Significant knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation. Solid understanding of AWS or a similar platform. Experience working in Linux environments, using build tools like GCC/CMake.  Awareness of CI/CD tools such as Gitlab, Bamboo or Jenkins.  Passion or interest in Artificial Intelligence would be useful.  What you’ll be doing  Joining the platform team, you’ll play an integral part in deploying and optimising the business’ self-driving technology onto both cloud-based simulation environments and their own in-house fleet of vehicles. R&D is a massive focus for the company with regular data collection initiatives put in place to ensure continuous testing with the latest software releases. You’ll be involved in developing tools to launch, maintain & monitor their autonomous stack, working closely with other areas of the business (including Machine Learning) to maintain communication & seamless releases. An AI start-up based in Bristol is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join their growing team. They are looking for someone technically strong who can bridge the gap between management and the development team. You will still be hands-on, and you won’t be asked to people manage however you will be on hand to direct the team and offer advice on approaches. You will be working on Greenfield projects across a variety of tech stacks so this would really suit a polyglot developer who is happy working across different technologies. What skills you’ll need Strong communication skills are essential. Experience with Android development. OOP languages C#, Python, C++ etc. Experience juggling multiple projects at one time.   Ability to pick up technologies quickly. Bonus skills  Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
