This is an opportunity to join an exciting bioscience innovator, offering market leading science within a fast-growing sector. In line with ambitious growth, they are seeking a strong Bioreactor Design Engineer for Mammalian Cell Culture to join the team in Cambridge.

What you’ll be doing:
Lead Bioreactor design including design and experimentation of Bioreactors, process and media optimisation, co-ordination of Engineering projects, and working with team to ensure the R&D process is robust and scalable.

What experience you’ll need to apply?

  • Proven experience of Bioreactor design skills for mammalian cell culture.
  • Strong bioprocess or cell/gene therapy experience.
  • Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering related- Master’s Degree (MEng/M.Sc.).

Nice to have experience:

  • PhD in a similar subject field, with Stem Cells.
  • Worked with CROs.
  • Experience in start-ups or scale-ups and/or novel projects.

What you’ll be doing: As the Stem Cell Scientist, you will lead the cell culture development team to create robust, scalable, and low-cost protocols. You will also create novel formulations of cell culture media, manage the lab including SOP’s, reprogramming of novel cell lines and provide support to the R&D and Production teams related to iPSCs (sourcing, characterisation, traceability, quality control and inventory management). This is a great opportunity to develop innovative solutions for highly complex cell culture challenges. What experience you’ll need to apply? PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar fields. Experience with pluripotent stem cells (ideally iPSC). Able to work independently on experiment design, execution, and optimisation. Nice to have experience: Cell reprogramming, with mRNA reprogramming highly desirable. Mammalian species. Strong record of scientific publications and/or patents. Serum free media. Muscle and/or fat protocols.
