Director of Laboratory Services

 This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high growth, start-up environment leading and directing the laboratory services division. Using lab-based pathology experience to manage overall lab operation and lab tasks including stock management, personnel supervision, regulatory and quality functions, and recruitment.

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Manage and oversee laboratory operations and performance including, stock management, equipment purchase, personnel recruitment and training, process regulation and development, as well as ensuring compliance with lab standards and regulation.
  • Establish and oversee communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain quality of laboratory services by establishing and maintaining quality control and quality assurance programmes.
  • Manage planning and operations within cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete on-time delivery.
  • Ensure test methodologies and appropriate with the capability to provide reliable results for patient care. Ensure laboratory personnel are using test procedures and methods delivering accurate and reliable results.
  • Monitor trends in utilisation of lab trends services reporting to senior and management teams.
  • Budget, staff and equipment purchase management.
  • Laboratory building maintenance including physical plant and ensuring lab conditions are appropriate.

What they are looking for?

  • BSc (preferably an MSc) in biological discipline.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) and registered with the institute of Biomedical Scientist.
  • Experience on Laboratory management, ideally within a pathology laboratory.
  • Experience of histopathology and cytological techniques desirable.
  • Significant Team Management experience.
  • Project Management, problem solving, team leadership and communication skills.
