— Award-winning Data Intelligence scale-up
- Implement new features & enhance a platform helping people around the world.
- Award-winning company with great benefits including an employee share scheme and training budget.
We’re working with an impressive Bournemouth based company that gather global data from sensors, satellites, drones, and mobile data to assess the impact of major catastrophes including wars or natural disasters. Combining machine learning algorithms and industry expertise, they feed this data back to the global insurance market so claims and underwriting staff can quickly and efficiently validate and approve insurance claims for those who are most in need.
Trusted by organisations like Greenpeace and The World Food Programme, they also provide consultancy services to clients around the world. They’ve won awards for their contribution to the industry and have recently been interviewed by the BBC and Sky News to provide evidence and insight into recent world events. As a result of increased demand, they’re now looking to recruit a Front-End Developer with TypeScript and React experience to join the team.
The skills we’re looking for:
- Demonstrable experience designing and building responsive web applications.
- Unit testing tools e.g. Jest/Mocha.
- Git or similar distributed version control software.
- An eye for good user-interface design – if you’ve got examples of your work that would be great!
- A great communicator and someone who is able to work with stakeholders to understand and execute their vision.
- A team player, inquisitive and keen to learn.
Bonus points for…
- Experience with Node.js or React Native
- A STEM/Environmental or Social Science degree
What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Lead Developer, you’ll work alongside a small tech team of 5 that own the data platform and public website. They’re looking for someone who will help create fresh, immersive experiences that communicate their data and brand to clients. You’ll work with the Product and Intelligence team to ensure all new UX / design briefs are fully understood, technically assessed and signed off before development.
There are projects in the pipeline to implement new features and they’re always looking to enhance the platform so it’s beautifully designed, performant, accessible, engaging and technically accurate. There is a genuine culture of collaboration and continual improvement, so you’ll be supported and encouraged to share your ideas – it’s an environment where input is always welcomed!
What you’ll get in return for your talents:
On top of a competitive salary (up to £60k) there are a whole heap of other perks including an employee share scheme, Deliveroo Wednesdays, enhanced maternity/paternity leave, holiday entitlement that increases annually with service, generous training budget for you to spend how you like, and flexible working hours. They also arrange regular team socials which have recently included a fully expensed team trip to London! It’s a hybrid role with a minimum of one day in the office a week, but it’s completely up to you for the other days. You’ll be joining a talented team and have the feel-good factor of working on a product with a significant and wide-reaching impact.
