Our client is a Global charity working across 70 countries helping vulnerable young people and women overcome any challenges they have. The data science team supports their mission by delivering high-quality services, developing platforms to support business optimisation, and innovating new processes. If you are passionate about Data Engineering and the rights of Women & Children then this is the perfect role.

What you will be doing

This is a senior position for a data engineer to act as a technical lead on developing data structures, data processes, and delivering a better user experience. You will oversee the rest of the team to implement data handling processes, build reports, and manage data sets. This is a fantastic opportunity to step up into a leadership role.  

Useful experience

  • Strong experience in SQL (query tuning and optimisation in particular).
  • Experience with Sharepoint, Power Pivot, and TOGAF (development framework), would be helpful for quick integration.
  • The ability to communicate technical information to people in other departments clearly.
  • Knowledge of the legislation regulating data.
  • Some project management experience or interest in progressing into it.
  • DBS check will be an essential requirement.

With your strong commercial awareness, you will have a good understanding of online and multichannel buying behaviour and the competitive landscape, which will enable you to develop and optimise the customer experience. You will own the day to day trading for a specific product category, maximise and deliver commercial performance against revenue and margin targets using web analytics data on traffic, conversions and order value to drive actionable insight and measurable improvements. Ensure you meet category targets for sales, conversion, basket abandonment and average order value.You'll liaise with the tech team on the development of the trading and CRO testing plan for your category. Measuring and analysing sales and category performance on a regular basis with a focus on development to the website and product merchandising techniques and promotions.What experience you'll need to apply Experience within a similar eCommerce role is advantageous. Commercially-minded with a Trading mentality. Numerate with good analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and good time management skills. Familiarity with online trading tools and technology would be a bonus (used for website merchandising and management). Strong Excel skills are preferred.
