JavaScript Engineer

One of Bristol’s most exciting tech start-ups are looking to add to their team working on an industry leading platform for the food industry.  Currently managing £2m per month in customer transactions and used by some of the UK’s most prominent food suppliers, this high availability system helps to allow customers to self-serve, automate and drive sales growth making it one of the most revolutionary products to reach the industry for decades.

What skills you’ll need

  • Node.js/Typescript
  • SQL databases and NO-SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with modern frontend technologies (React, HTML5, CSS, JS, Webpack, Babel, ES6, etc).
  • RESTful API services.
  • Micro-service API architecture.
  • Familiar with frontend and backend test suites such as Jest, Cypress, etc.
  • Serverless architecture and deployment.
  • AWS and associated components such as EC2, IAM, Lamda, etc.
  • GitHub/Bitbucket.

What you’ll be doing

Working in a small team for this high-flying start-up, you’ll be able to co-own the platform and control the direction of the roadmap, which includes very exciting new features like native apps, forecasting, tracing of the origin of ingredients (using Blockchain) and machine learning. You’ll be working predominantly on the back-end (Node) side developing new features, supporting existing clients and onboarding new customers.  This will include debugging and fixing functionality, building upon existing features, working with designers on UI/UX, testing and deploying releases, looking into the use of new tech and learning the likes of Blockchain, Machine Learning and others to really push the product forward.
