Full-Stack JS Engineer

A very successful scale-up with a mission of greening the planet is expanding their engineering team. They've been featured in Apple’s ‘app of the week’ with over 200,000 registrations having launched over 4 years ago. What experience you'll need

Essential

  • Modern front-end JavaScript library, ideally React. 
  • Well-versed with Node or TypeScript.
  • Desire to work in an agile, highly collaborative start-up environment.
  • Desire to learn new tech and share your knowledge with the team.
  • You will have tested your own code before.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of cloud-native development, preferably Google. 
  • Experience with SQL databases.
  • Use or knowledge of Microservices architecture.
  • Any iOS or Android experience.      
  • Any background using CI/CD.

What you’ll be doing

The technical challenges range from building and growing a sustainable social network, optimising a rich, image/vid intensive mobile app and utilising AI tech to augment and identify plants through an image recognition tool, as well as making improvements to digital visitor experience. The products are very user-facing so an eye for usability is key. There is a mobile app and a bespoke web app – every developer is able to deliver entire vertical features from databases, deployments, services and the front-end. React and React Native are used on the front-end, backed by a GraphQL API implemented with NodeJS with Postgres running on Kubernetes. The development team has a tendency towards functional style of programming (with pair programming) and focus on testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery. 

What you’ll get in return for your talents
