A well-reputed global consultancy with incredible staff retention and benefits is looking for a Python Software Engineer to join them as they look to further grow their in-house development function. This role is part of a wider expansion plan and investment in technology services and would be a great opportunity for anyone who wants to play a key role in how their internal & external applications are developed. The role offers almost 100% remote working, ideally with occasional expensed trips to London for team meetings every couple of months. 

What skills you’ll need

  • Significant knowledge of Python development across web & software apps. 
  • Experience with large-scale systems, software for automation and data-driven apps. 
  • Familiar with web APIs. 
  • Understanding of cloud services like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or similar. 
  • Well-versed in Docker or similar. 
  • Knowledge of Elasticsearch. 
  • Comfortable working Agile. 
  • Awareness of software design patterns, clean code principles, full SDLC etc. 
  • Advocate for clear and concise technical documentation. 
  • Any front-end experience with a modern JS library would be useful. 

What you’ll be doing

Joining a talented Agile team of 5, you’ll drive the development of a data & insights platform in order to improve the overall efficiency of the business’ work for their clients through the use of PoC’s. You’ll be involved in various in-house software applications & databases, some of which are Greenfield. You’ll play an integral role in building these bespoke apps from the ground up before looking to add new features & functionalities, having a lot of input around technical direction & overall strategy. It’s expected that you will test these applications as well as fixing/refactoring your work, plus reviewing your colleague’s code to provide input on architectural decisions.
