I’m helping an established Healthcare business in Bristol to find a Web Developer as they look to bring their development in-house. The business provides a variety of disability aids, working closely with the NHS meaning they’ve been incredibly busy throughout 2020. This will be their first internal dev hire, offering lots of autonomy and growth, reporting into the Marketing Director. 

What skills you’ll need

  • Understanding of content management systems, happy with either WordPress, Umbraco, Sitecore, Shopify or similar. 
  • Skilled in HTML, CSS, JavaScript. 
  • Knowledge of creating traffic to website using Node/Express or similar. 
  • Any knowledge of PHP, Vue and SQL would be desirable.
  • Eye for UI/UX with ability to create responsive/adaptive web designs. 
  • Cross-browser and cross-device experience. 

What you’ll be doing

As the first in-house developer you will be given sole responsibility for creating multiple brand and eCommerce-based websites from scratch. You’ll own the front and back-ends, taking control of UI/UX as well as adding new features and functionalities in line with the visions of the product team that you’ll be connected to. This role sits in their marketing team and upholding brand standards is important; there is a lot of variety which includes managing websites for the business and its subsidiaries. On top of this you’ll be working closely with internal stakeholders in an Agile manner, involving yourself in planning sessions and constantly looking to improve site performance, ensuring all work is tested to maintain quality throughout.

What you’ll be doing Working within the Web Platform team your focus will be to develop high quality web applications and drive the effectiveness of their B2B websites. You will build new functionality to existing sites and will be instrumental in a number of upcoming projects including new website builds, the development of a design system, Salesforce integration project and more. It’ll be expected you communicate well within your team and provide guidance and design direction to more junior developers as well as staying up to date with the latest tech innovations and their potential applications.
