Senior Back-End Developer - Functional

— Brand-new product, progression to Tech Lead

£50K - £55K (Flexible)

A start-up with sites across the EU and US offer a unique self-service model to people that has revolutionised the industry are on a growth mission which includes a Senior Back-End Developer. What experience you’ll need

  • Understanding of functional programming, open to Elixir, Scala, Rust, Clojure etc.
  • Proven JVM or Ruby development experience. 
  • Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes). 
  • Continuous integration using CircleCI or similar.
  • Cloud-native development experience, preferably with Heroku/AWS. 
  • Ability to work at senior level and act as technical lead on projects where required. 
  • Flexibility on the tech you work with. 

What you’ll be doing

Joining a small, diverse development team you’ll be focusing on a brand-new product, a unique booking system which includes IoT devices, audio/video streaming services plus other new features in the pipeline. Your focus will be on the back-end of the product and wider platform, helping others in the team to write production ready code whilst upholding high coding standards and liaising closely with the product manager to ensure the roadmap is aligned for each sprint. The business takes a continuous delivery approach, working highly Agile with regular releases. As a senior in the team it’s expected that you can act as technical lead on projects where required, mentoring junior members in the team, guiding them on best practice and methodology approach. It’s important that you collaborate on projects with other developers and team members if you are working in the office or remotely. They have brilliant project/product managers to work with, who take on a lot of the responsibility to give the engineering team more focus on programming and using the tools.
