Website Test Analyst

— Work with/learn automation

Salary: £22K-£30K
Location: Bristol
Type: Permanent
Ref: 9832

Description

  • Great social team, really nice culture with flexible working hours.
  • Implement the testing strategy.
  • Ambitious company growth plans - it's a great time to join the journey!

An exciting Bristol based start-up is looking for a Website Test Analyst to join the growing team at their Central offices on Whiteladies Road. Historically the team has worked remotely but now having their own space, they are looking to bring everything in-house. The team has already grown from 1 to over 10 in the space of a year and collectively the websites receive over 2 million users per month. As they do not currently have a testing team you will be the main point of testing and defining the future of this space.

What experience you’ll need

  • Experience of manual website testing.
  • Solid understanding of primary testing procedures.
  • You will have also done cross browser testing.
  • Have the ability to implement testing procedures and best practices.
  • Automation is very desirable; you must at least be interested in using it.
  • Development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP is very desirable.
  • Experience with Selenium would be very beneficial.
  • Writing unit tests for code is also very desirable.
  • You will have worked as a website tester in a commercial environment.
  • Good communication skills, team player and willing to take on the testing responsibility.
  • An interest in sport would be a good fit for the team.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be reporting to the development manager and working directly with the development team. You will be responsible for full testing of their websites including associated APIs which will include manual testing of new features, browser testing, regression testing, introduction of test tools and automation where relevant. As you will be the first test analyst in the team you will need to have initiative and able to introduce solid testing practices and tools to shape the structure within the dev team for the foreseeable future. You will ideally be implementing automation in the mid-term, the company will help you learn this if need be but a grounding of it already will help in the role. It is important that you use best tools/practices for when the testing and development teams grow. You will be communicating with the dev manager on a daily basis so will need to be patient, able to explain things well and find ways of resolving any issues.

What you’ll get in return for your talents

Ultimately the main draw of this role will be joining a new, exciting business at the perfect time to make a big impact. You’ll be offered generous holiday allowance and salary (up to £26k) and the chance to develop your testing skills in a commercial environment. The offices themselves already have the essentials like a fully stocked beer fridge, flat screen TV with PS4 & FIFA, nice chill out space and there are always on-going discussions with what to do next. They have signed boots and shirts decorating the walls and like to keep things fun; the team themselves are extremely sociable and friendly. It’s certainly not rare that you’ll be treated to a meal out or a trip to a match or the races. Ultimately there’s a lot of flexibility in what’s to be offered with regards to tech, R&D time and the like and you’ll be able to suggest what the testing function should focus on in this respect as the company grows.
