Cloud Software Engineer (C#/Python, AWS)

One of the UK’s most innovative & rapidly growing technology companies are looking for a Cloud Software Engineer to join either their Wiltshire office or their brand-new Bristol space next to the harbour side.  As they continue to grow their business with scope to double in size over the next 3 years, this is a unique opportunity for an established specialist to join an exciting division with constant training & development. The business already has one million machines in the field sending 100 million messages per day to the cloud, and this is only the beginning!

What skills you’ll need

  • Proven background in C#/Python development, ideally working in a production environment. 
  • Significant knowledge of NodeJS. 
  • Excellent understanding of AWS, preferably with an understanding of serverless cloud (Lambda).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, containerisation and infrastructure-as-code (Jenkins, Kubernetes, Terraform etc.)
  • Test & deployment automation expertise.
  • Ability to look after architecture & design of new components.
  • Awareness of connected products, scalability, micro-service architecture, distributed applications etc. 
  • Background in an Agile/Scrum environment. 

What you’ll be doing

Joining a cross-functional team in a production environment you’ll be covering a variety of projects, focusing on building new connected product features  as well as enhancing the pre-existing platform using C#/Python and a range of monitoring & automation tools. The company work in an Agile manner so you’ll be involved in daily stand-ups & fortnightly sprints, often developing as a pair or team to ensure there are no blurred lines of communication internally. Most of the projects you’ll be focusing on are centred on IoT & Robotics so you will have plenty of variety, meaning adaptability is essential. The long term goal is to build the foundations of a truly global team, and this role will only progress as the business does with it.

Exposure to modern JS frameworks especially VueJS or React. SQL query development experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.). Understanding of TDD (PHPUnit). Knowledge of working in virtualised environments, ideally using Vagrant. Experience working in Linux environments. Also any skills or knowledge of Gerrit, Jenkins, AWS, Azure, Google Compute, Docker or any knowledge of big data and/or analytics would all be bonuses. Previous experience working with cloud or SaaS products would be perfect. What you’ll be doing You’ll be working within the R&D department, based in Bristol. The role itself will involve a variety of different projects using different tech, including the development of entirely new functionality and components within the platform. Dependent on what tech you’ve been working with before, your role could include picking up new skills such as working with Laravel and Node.js. As part of the R&D team, you’ll need to focus on remaining agile and dynamic at all times, whilst maintaining assured quality levels.
