A progressive tech company who build some seriously cool analytical & lab-based products is looking for a hands-on Lead Test Engineer join their Malvern team as they look to further grow their technology function. Their products are used by Scientists and Engineers in a wide range of industries including healthcare, pharma, automotive, environmental and more. With a diverse project roadmap and rapid growth plans in place for 2021/22, this is a unique opportunity for a dedicated Lead Tester to work on rewarding projects that solve real-life challenges through the use of tech.

What experience you’ll need

  • Proven background in manual testing. 
  • Ability to lead a testing function, mentor juniors whilst remaining hands-on. 
  • Exposure to automation test principles would be beneficial.
  • Experience of Windows desktop applications would be preferable.
  • Any programming experience in C#, .Net, C++ or any OO language would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of things like TFS, Visual Studio, MS Test Manager etc. 
  • ISTQB is desirable.
  • Ability to work closely with developers and engineering specialists.
  • You will have worked in an Agile/Scrum environment.

What you’ll be doing

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team you will lead the testing and documentation of software programs as part of the development of the company’s range of products. You will lead the process of providing software and embedded software test specifications, test cases and test automation suites necessary to provide robust and reliable software. You’ll be overseeing testing across various software teams (each Scrum is usually 3-5 developers and 1 tester) using agile methods, participating in sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives. Estimate tasks, write test schedules, write and execute story tests. You will also automate new functional test cases and run automated regression tests. You’ll be contributing to software testing standards and policies, directing others and working alongside the Software Engineering Manager.
