A revolutionary digital consultancy is looking for a Java Architect to work with a range of diverse, market leading clients in a variety of industries such as fintech, retail, healthcare & pharmaceuticals. This company brings together design, data science and software engineering talent to delivery new products to their customers across the UK.
What skills you'll be needing
  • Clear background programming multiple languages primarily Java.
  • JavaScript, .Net and functional programming are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of automated testing including BDD and TDD.
  • SQL, No-SQL and other storage technologies.
  • A history of responsibility for delivering and designing large scale solutions.
  • You will have led a team of at least 3 others.
  • Experience with cloud computing including SaaS or similar.
  • DevOps principles are highly desirable.
  • Appreciation good software development practices.
  • It is expected that you have worked in an agile environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to teach others and communicate well with on-site teams.
  • You must be willing to travel to client sites.
What you'll be doing
As a Java Architect with solid leadership skills and a retained thirst for coding you will be working in groups or in pairs leading teams of developers, testers, Ops through to the full lifecycle of development. Getting your hands dirty with the latest versions of Java, JavaScript and other cutting-edge languages/tools this will help move you forward into becoming a polyglot programmer. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients providing innovative solutions to problems they face, may it be on-site or remotely. As you will be responsible for the bigger picture you will be involved in pre-sales activities delivering presentations, demonstrating the potential of technology and simplification of technical documents. You will manage client expectations throughout the lifecycle from initiation through to delivery working in a fast paced agile environment. Client sites are throughout the UK, you will be based in Bristol for the majority of projects but you must be willing to travel when needed. It is expected that you are 50% hands on throughout this role.
