Cloud Infrastructure Lead
— Complex hybrid cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS)
- Clean energy company who invest in GreenTech start-ups.
- Own the provision of the business’ cloud infrastructure.
- Majority remote, flexible hours, unique benefits package!
A multi award-winning company with a sustainability focus is looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Lead to join them on a majority remote basis, ideally with a trip to their eco-friendly Chippenham hub every few weeks but open to a discussion as to what this looks like. They’re considered market leaders in the clean energy space and have a huge community presence for advocating sustainability and investing in GreenTech start-ups. They’ve continued to go from strength-to-strength with more exciting plans for growth in the pipeline throughout 2022.
What skills you’ll need
- Proven experience in managing large-scale cloud-based infrastructure.
- Well-versed in navigating the Azure ecosystem, preferably with a relevant certification.
- Confident with the Azure DevOps package, including CI/CD, source control, resource management, IaC and app monitoring/logging.
- Ability to improve and simplify a complex hybrid infrastructure.
- Experience working with APIs.
- Any awareness of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) would be beneficial.
- Background working with on-prem infrastructure or server migrations of any kind.
- Admin experience for servers/storage and knowledge of VMware.
- Networking knowledge, firewalls, security, VPNs etc.
What you’ll be doing
This role sits in a small operations team with accountability for improving the performance, automation, security and scalability of their hybrid cloud infrastructure which is majority Azure-based (there’s some exposure to AWS too). You’ll deliver a technical strategy for CI/CD and automation, supporting the team with new feature implementations and ensuring rigorous enhancement of the business’ cloud footprint. You’ll spend time creating a guide on Azure DevOps to help increase knowledge across the team, as well as communicating with key stakeholder groups across the wider business. Whilst this is a lead role, it’s not people management, more technical leadership so you’ll remain hands-on with lots of autonomy over strategic direction of their cloud infrastructure moving forward.
What you’ll get in return for your talents
As well as working for a highly ethical company with sustainable engineering practices at the forefront of their ethos, you’ll receive a competitive salary and very healthy benefits package which includes 25 days annual leave with the option to buy more, majority remote working, flexi-time, discretionary company bonus, pension matched up to 7.5%, a flexible benefits package which you can take as cash, green travel bonuses and much more!
