This tech company have been creating software for global businesses across embedded, application and enterprise systems for over 20 years. Following a busy period and several successful new bids, they’re looking to grow their software engineering team further with new hires to be made in their Trowbridge office. They’re a unique business with a proven track record of supporting giants in the fields of public sector, telecoms, rail, aerospace and more.
What skills you’ll need
- Proven experience with C# and ideally another server-side language (Python, Java, C++ etc.).
- Understanding of .Net framework.
- Significant knowledge of OO design as well as UML/XML.
- Programming experience on Windows OS. Any Linux knowledge would be useful.
- Any understanding of TCP/IP, Networking, HTTP, HTML is beneficial.
- Database skills; SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, SQLite etc.
- Client-facing experience or ability to communicate clearly with external stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
Joining the wider Engineering team with multi-project exposure, you’ll support the delivery of high-level projects across their global customer-base, primarily focused on the MS ecosystem but with exposure to things like Python, Java, C++ and more, meaning you’ll need to be comfortable learning new tech and adapting depending on the project. Some projects can last for 2+ years at a time but the typical lifecycle is 3-6 months before you’re re-deployed into a different area, creating a lot of variety and diverse tools/tech to be involved in. There’s typically 2-4 people on a project and the role tends to be quite customer-facing, so you’ll need to offer a consultative approach and ensure you understand and meet the briefs given throughout. As a senior you’ll be involved up to architecture level, plus mentoring juniors and offering technical direction and oversight where required.
