3D Retail Designer

We’re looking for a 3D Retail Designer to join one of the UK’s leading technology brands. This role will create a unique and market leading retail experience for the launch of a major new product category; an electric vehicle.
What you’ll be doing
Joining the wider retail team your focus will be to create the shopper experience from scratch; you’ll provide the overarching concepts, create visual mock-ups, prototypes and the final designs.
You’ll be working with an established brand and one with a well developed identity, this means you’ll need to be creative but within the context of a wider visual language. To create a memorable customer experience you’ll need to develop a deep understanding of the brand and the technology they create as well as the problems facing automotive retail today.
What experience you’ll need to apply
- Experience within retail / service design.
- Automotive experience beneficial but not required.
- Confident user of 3D Cad and 3DS Max.
- Creative and conceptual; able to sketch, scamp and iterate new ideas.
- An ability to mock-up or prototype ideas, preferably in physical form (cardboard engineering).
- Adobe CC experience in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- A good communicator, able to sell ideas and collaborate with other creatives.

What you’ll be doing In this role you’ll join a small but growing team of technical experts designing B2B and B2B2C web and native applications. This is an exciting time to join, the product is already in use and some major new customers have been acquired leading to millions in new revenue. As it stands, you’ll be working with the product owner, a small team of senior developers and a QA lead. Up until now design and development has been outsourced to get the product in good shape, the next step is bringing everything in-house.As part of a small team the UX/UI Designer will have a multifaceted role and support the senior developers and product owner in creating the best user experience possible across all products. The product will be used by a wide variety of users and you’ll be working on features that handle payments, IoT integration, insight, analytics and logistics for their customers. Getting in at ground level you’ll be instrumental in shaping the visual design of the product and in defining the approach to research and testing. With a product in its infancy, the approach is likely to be lean and evolve over time and you won’t need to be an expert in research from day one. The founder is experienced in design too so you’ll have support and the space allowed to grow into a leadership role further down the line. What you’ll need to be considered Experience of working in a multidisciplinary design role encompasses user interface design and user experience practices A portfolio of digital products, native app is useful but responsive and mobile first as a minimum. Experience of wireframing, prototyping, storyboarding. Proven experience creating style guides, pattern libraries and ideally design systems. Any experience of working Agile beneficial. Some exposure to user testing and user research hugely beneficial. Confident with an array of modern design tools (e.g Sketch, Adobe CC, Figma etc).
