Senior Android Developer
— Tech Giant, IoT, Top products
We’re looking for a Senior Android Developer to join one of the UK’s most innovative technology businesses at their centre of excellence easily reached from Bristol (40 mins) and Swindon (20 mins). Outgrown your current role and need to feel challenged in a truly positive, progressive and rewarding environment? Want to do more within an Internet of Things (IoT) space in a business with an incredible lab/tech set-up and a global reputation for ingenuity? If so, this is definitely the one for you.
What experience you’ll need
As a Senior Android Developer it’ll be expected that you’ll have some fantastic apps to show from commercial native Android development (Java, C++, Android Studio). They'd like it if you have experience of working with connectivity technologies (REST, Cloud Services, Bluetooth, iBeacons etc) and have the ability to rapidly develop robust research prototypes. They’d like you to be familiar with Atlassian tools including JIRA, Bitbucket & Bamboo and have experience/awareness of iOS build tools (e.g., xcodebuild, fastlane & CocoaPods) and have a true Agile development set-up so it’s highly preferable that you’ll have worked in this way previously, in particular, alongside UI/UX designers. Beyond the technical, they’re keen to find highly passionate, creative innovators who like to work collaboratively and solve problems, never compromising quality for quick release; a high attention to detail and a thirst to overcome limitations.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for researching connectivity protocols and interoperability frameworks, architecting solutions and designing and validating new features for a suite of ground-breaking connected products (four new ones on the way in the next 3 years!). The work will be challenging, varied, and will help bring the business further into the evolving world of IoT. You’ll be interacting with teams including product developers, electronics engineers, embedded software engineers and Cloud developers to ensure solutions are functional, secure and easy to use. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary Connectivity Research Team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the next generation of connected products and technologies are properly explored, tested and refined. You’ll be able to mentor team members and contribute to system architecture and development process. It almost goes without saying that your thoughts and opinions will be hugely valued and encouraged especially when helping to evolve research processes.
What you’ll get in return for your talents
An incredible opportunity to work on greenfield and challenging projects for a global giant offering long term progression, training and development, access to courses and conferences alongside a formidable benefits package. You can expect a very competitive salary: if you’re worth it, they’ll pay it. You’ll also get generous holidays, bonus, healthcare, pension, use of onsite gym, flexible hours, subsidised lunch, a brand new and incredible lab/office to work in and much more. Working alongside some of the smartest developers in the region, you’ll be part of a team producing apps used across the world by millions, job satisfaction is going to be high in this one!
