    Manufacturing Engineer

      New role for an experienced manufacturing engineer to help drive improvements Working on state of the art medical/scientific equipment Lead role with responsibility across engineering, supply chain and quality Experience/Skill you will need: Six sigma, Kanban, materials flow and pull systems Continuous improvement in an electro/mechanical assembly environment Confidence working with manufacturing, supply chain, quality and suppliers day to day Have experience with optical products/processes or an eagerness to learn and train in this area - full and bespoke training will be provided Problem solving and improvement focussed approach The Role: You will take responsibility for the manufacturability of current and new products, while ensuring quality and cost targets can be met. Working closely with R+D teams to solve technical problems throughout the process. The Manufacturing Engineering team consists of 12 engineers and work closely with Optical, Scientific and other Engineering team’s day to day. There will be flexibility to work 2/3 days a week at home, for spec reviews and improvement plan prep etc, but there will always be some site based requirement.   What you will get in return for your talents: You’ll be entitled to 23 days holiday (increasing to 25 with service), flexi-time (core hours 10-12 and 2-3 Monday to Friday, 37.5 hour working week) with the opportunity for remote working with a trip to the office 1-2 times a week. They are creating innovative, customer-focused solutions and services to enhance efficiency and deliver tangible economic impact through chemical, physical and structural analysis of materials.   What you’ll be doing As the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be delivering integrated mechanical, opto-mechanical, and fluid-mechanics design solutions as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. Using optical and/or thermal simulation tools to inform design requirements, and you will develop an understanding of the technology that underpins the clients products.   Working closely with the manufacturing and service teams to ensure design delivers operational efficiency. Selection of appropriate manufacturing techniques according to part requirements, and analysis of supplier capability data.   What experience you’ll need to apply HNC or degree level in an Engineering related discipline. Solidworks or Solidedge. Design of integrated opto-mechanical assemblies. International standards (such as BS8888), drawing issue control, generating Bills of Materials, and engineering control documentation. Lean tools and processes such as DfX & FMEA. You will be delivering integrated mechanical design solutions as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, using tolerance stack-up analysis in the design phase to ensure manufacturing process capability. This will mean contributing to the continuous improvement of the engineering tools, procedures, and best practices within the discipline. Ensuring project requirements are captured and achieved while meeting all necessary safety, compliance, and technical standard, whilst working closely with the manufacturing and service teams to ensure design delivers operational efficiency.   What experience you’ll need to apply HNC or degree level in an Engineering related discipline. Solidworks or Solidedge. Tolerance stack-up analysis, ideally having used tools such as Sigmetrix CETOL. International standards (such as BS8888), drawing issue control, generating Bills of Materials, and engineering control documentation.       Bristol based company with newly refurbished offices and excellent benefits Opportunity to build a team around you Cutting edge technology and research facility   Our client is looking for a Head of Delivery and Support to help manage projects across their product range. You will work in a growing team and will have recruitment responsibility to ensure the delivery team can continue to provide an excellent service, as the company continues to grow.   What you will need: Mechanical and construction engineering knowledge PRINCE2, ISO 9001 or Six Sigma Management of projects in excess of £500k Understanding of manufacturing/production environments and projects Supply chain and recruitment experience Confident dealing with internal and external points of contact across all business areas including finance, supply chain, sales and board members   What you will do: Working as the head of the delivery function you will mange the entire project lifecycle for innovative vertical farming solutions. The product is a mixture of systems including mechanical, electrical, cooling and water, so an understating of these areas from any industry background would be very beneficial. Some of the product range are self-contained modular units, so a construction background would also be beneficial.
