What a  PHP Developer career or job may entail...
You'll develop in order to create or maintain website features, intranets and/or systems, applications and/ or software (including SAAS) using Javascript, PHP, Laravel/Symfony3/CodeIgnitor etc, MySQL, LAMP admin, GIT, Javascript/JQuery and you would usually require solid HTML and CSS knowledge. 

Typically, you’ll be asked to work alongside Designers, UXers, Project Managers and 3rd party suppliers to develop high quality, intuitive applications. You will constantly evolve your skills, partaking in courses, experimenting with new tech and passing on your knowledge of ever-changing tech trends.

You may work directly with clients or with internal teams to provide estimates, updates and tech consultancy. LAMP server management, support and testing can also play a part alongside new development projects where you’ll be able to help evaluate new technologies, suggesting process/system improvements where possible. 

You may take part in code reviews, optimise and upgrade existing systems as well as creating new products from scratch - always ensuring they are the best they can be. As a PHP Developer, you’d really get the chance to sink your teeth in and make a huge impact on exciting products throughout the whole development cycle.

At an entry level, junior/graduate PHP professionals on average will be earning between £20k-£30K. At mid-level you’d be looking to earn £30k-£45K and seniors would be looking to earn £45k+.

Due to the nature of the project work you’ll need to be eligible for SC Clearance.  What skills you’ll need Proven experience with Python3 with both synchronous & asynchronous code patterns. Ideally one modern framework would be preferred.  Front-End expertise with HTML, Bootstrap and JavaScript. Any knowledge of Angular or similar would be useful.  Understanding of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.  Excellent Linux system build knowledge.  Strong awareness of build, deployment & testing via CI systems. Extensive knowledge of virtualisation techniques & tools. Awareness of networking and comms protocols.  What you’ll be doing Joining a small team with potential scope to grow a team around you, you’ll work closely with an offshore tech partner to deliver a suite of products/solutions to their client base. The focus is on virtual appliances which provide config, deployment and management of secure comms products to enterprise level, primarily within the public sector. You’ll take ownership of this product suite from conception and design through to delivery and maintenance, utilising a diverse range of tech and integrating modern frameworks where necessary. Most of these solutions will have multiple components, you’ll look after both the front-end and server-side, supporting with the integration, build, deployment and testing of software in virtual appliances with some very small involvement in embedded software.
