This is an opportunity to join an exciting Bioprocessing innovator using a breakthrough platform to reduce the manufacturing costs within the Cell & Gene Therapy and Drug Discovery markets. In line with growth, they are seeking a Product Architect to manage the development and architecture of their products. As part of the executive management team, you will initially manage a team of 3 with rapid growth to 10. What you'll be doing: Create product architecture and gain an understanding of the technical and user requirements of the product. Design, build and execute product roadmaps. Manage the engineering team, growth, and function. Development and select third-party suppliers and relationships. Work with fellow executive management team on IP development and strategy. What experience you will need to apply: Extensive engineering product development for life science technology and/or applications. Proven leadership of teams 3 in size. Sound Quality Management Systems expertise. Used to managing engineering workshops or laboratories. Any experience of microfluidic technology would be beneficial but not essential. — Senior role within a highly skilled engineering teamLocation:WorcestershireSalary:CompetitiveNew role for an experienced manufacturing engineer to help drive improvements Working on state of the art medical/scientific equipment Lead role with responsibility across engineering, supply chain and quality Experience/Skill you will need: Six sigma, Kanban, materials flow and pull systems Continuous improvement in an electro/mechanical assembly environment Confidence working with manufacturing, supply chain, quality and suppliers day to day Have experience with optical products/processes or an eagerness to learn and train in this area - full and bespoke training will be provided Problem solving and improvement focussed approach The Role: You will take responsibility for the manufacturability of current and new products, while ensuring quality and cost targets can be met. Working closely with R+D teams to solve technical problems throughout the process. The Manufacturing Engineering team consists of 12 engineers and work closely with Optical, Scientific and other Engineering team’s day to day. There will be flexibility to work 2/3 days a week at home, for spec reviews and improvement plan prep etc, but there will always be some site based requirement. This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Bioprocessing Engineer in a rapidly growing Biotech company that using food waste to develop bioplastics and innovative materials. The role will be based in Leeds. What you’ll be doing As a Bioprocessing Engineer you will be assisting in the process development and optimisation for the bioplastic production process that will include developing a bio-separation/biofiltration process. You will be involved in process optimisation, improving production efficiency, and communicating the progress in technical reports. You will play a vital role in the development of new sustainable materials. What experience you’ll need to apply? A background in chemical engineering/biochemical engineering/biology/ pharmacy is essential Previous experience in separation methodologies in the food/pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
