In line with growth, they are searching for an experienced Protein Production Scientist. What you’ll be doing: Design and generate protein expression constructs for target and candidate proteins. Optimise expression of new protein modalities in bacterial and eukaryotic expression systems. Design and implement purification strategies to produce high quality proteins. Develop and perform characterisation assays (e.g. stability, purity, activity) to QC and rank candidate protein sequences. Work closely with our automation and screening teams to develop reliable, reproducible, high-throughput workflows. What experience you’ll need to apply? Strong molecular biology skills, preferably with experience of cutting-edge cloning techniques such as Gibson assembly or Golden Gate. Hands-on recombinant protein expression experience in a range of cell types (e.g. bacteria, yeast, mammalian, insect). You’re confident with purification using a variety of FPLC systems (e.g. ÄKTA Pure) and developing custom purification methods. You’ll have worked on projects that involved troubleshooting or optimising cloning, expression and purification workflows, e.g. to improve yields or purity. You’ve worked with a range of protein targets that may include membrane proteins, mAbs, Fabs, or multi-valent biologics. You’re able to explain scientific concepts to non-scientists, such as automation engineers. Familiarity with upstream / downstream process development and protein production for in vivo work will be advantageous. In line with growth, they are searching for a Scientist with strong Biochemical High Throughput Screening experience. What you’ll be doing: You’ll be a member of the wet lab team in HTS. You will have experience in industrial drug discovery and are now looking for a company to grow and evolve in. As one of the HTS Scientists, your industrial/ academic know-how will be essential to this role and your experience in assay development/ screening will be put to good use in their in-house wet lab. Whatever your previous experience includes, you’ll inject passion and energy into everything you do. What you’ll do in this role: Develop a range of biochemical assays to characterise novel biotherapeutics derived from bespoke antibody scaffold libraries. You will work closely with the automation team to automate and screen these assays. You will integrate your workflows with their protein team to develop the seamless end-to-end screening platform. What experience you will need to apply: PhD or relevant industrial experience, with practical experience in HTS and/or biochemical assays. Experience with 384-well biochemical assays (e.g.  FRET, HTRF, LANCE, NanoBRET, AlphaScreen, BLI, SPR). The ability to explain scientific concepts to non-scientists, such as automation engineers. You’ll have worked on projects that involved troubleshooting or optimising biochemical assays. How you enjoy working Comfortable with a rapid pace of work in a dynamic environment. You work to the highest standards with high attention to detail, our data needs to be robust so that we can learn from it. You’re happiest working in a collaborative context.
