    Hot Jobs Front-End Engineer/Architect

    — Remote role with option to work in Bath

    High level engineering, work with modern JS frameworks (mainly React). Amazing benefits, conference budget, cutting-edge learning materials. Product used by engineering teams at Airbnb, Github, Microsoft, EA, Heroku, Slack and loads more. A San Francisco based company with offices in Bath are looking to bolt on a Front-End Architect to work with their team in the US. You will be in a core team of 3 high level engineers as part of a wider 20 person engineering team. Working closely with the Product and Design team you will help build their customer-facing core product that helps many of the industry’s leading engineering teams around the world to deliver high quality software to their users. What experience you’ll need You will be a JavaScript expert A wide range of JS library experience, ideally React but others such as Angular, Vue or Ember will be considered. TypeScript, ES6, Jest and Enzyme are also used to any use of these will be beneficial. Experience with Ruby on Rails is a plus. AWS would be useful to have. The use of CI/CD and containerisation tools would be great (GitLab, Jasmine, Docker, Kubernetes). Agile experience, worked in sprints. You will have worked with remote teams before. Good communication skills. Willing to be flexible with working hours to an extent. What you’ll be doing There are 2 code bases, first is the front-end React app (they have been using React for 4 years now) with some TypeScript and other JS libraries. The second code base is a Ruby on Rails app, a layer that the front-end communicates with. As a key member of the team you will be building the core dashboard that helps developers all over the world to be more efficient at what they do. With your background in front-end you will architect and build dynamic data visualisations to help customers explore huge sets of data, which you will also explore using your own product – they use it every day themselves. On a daily basis you will use the latest and greatest front-end technologies and if you like get involved with back-end languages and/or operations, as it’s a small company there’s lots of flexibility to work across teams where reasonable. You will also be a key player in future hiring and structuring of the team, you must be the leader and own the architecture, though be willing to stay hands-on away from management responsibilities (which could change in the future). As you are working closely with the team in SF you must be willing to overlap on time zones the majority of the week e.g. 11-6pm or 12-7pm UK time, it may change each time, sometimes you may just have to be around for a quick video call in the evening. What you’ll get in return for your talents Alongside an extremely generous salary (£90K-£110K), equity and remote working you will have a conference benefit – Once a year the company will cover flights, accommodation and conference tickets to visit any conference in the world of your area of work. You will have 22 days annual leave with a week off between Christmas and New Year, commuting and food expenses if you wish to travel to the Bath office. You will also have access to books, and learning resources – they have standing subscriptions to expensive high quality learning material that will keep you on top of the front-end world. As your team will be SF based you will have the chance to be flown out to work with the team at the companies expense. The business is expanding quickly; they’ve got a client list made up of some of the biggest names in consumer technology. What you’ll be doing Reporting in to the Head of Design, you’ll be working alongside fellow designers, copywriters and the wider marketing department to produce engaging creative communications for a wide range of well-established retailers. One day you could be supporting the marketing department with designing integrated collatoral to promote the business, the next you could be collaborating with the creative team to think up an internal brand to roll out content across various channels, including digital such as motion graphics. Ideally you’ve some integrated design experience, but if you’re a master of offline print then there will be opportunity to evolve your skills in to the digital space. We're looking for a designer who has an eye for creative branding, is confident taking briefs end-to-end, and is a master of typography and layout. What experience you’ll need At least some commercial experience, or a fantastic graduate. A portfolio full of integrated designs, including print through to artwork. I’m looking for a Workflow & Print Production Assistant to join an established not for profit brand in the heart of Swindon. Joining the in-house design studio, you’ll be trusted to keep all creative schedules up to date and ensure a smooth delivery of print production for the wider studio. Please note this is not a creative/design role.     What you’ll be doing You’ll come on board as a member of the internal design studio for one of the nicest not for profit brands in the South West. It’s a varied role to say the least where you’ll be involved in a host of tasks to support the wider design studio. Your duties will include (but not limited to) assisting with the day to day management of creative schedules, ensuring timesheets for the studio are correct and up to date,  running reports to monitor workloads & expenditure, budget tracking, archiving artwork files, liaise with external printers for estimates and research suppliers for branded merchandise. As a large part of this role will be dealing with external suppliers you’ll ideally already have a good knowledge of print processes and production across digital, large format and litho. As you'll work closely with the Workflow & Print Production Manager you’ll have the support behind you to develop within the role. What experience you’ll need to apply Fluent with Microsoft Word & Excel. Had experience working in a creative environment. Solid knowledge of print processes (digital, large format, litho). Good eye for detail. Exceptional customer service skills. Cope well under pressure. Happy to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Good communication skills both verbally & written. This role will create a unique and market leading retail experience for the launch of a major new product category; an electric vehicle.    What you’ll be doing Joining the wider retail team your focus will be to create the shopper experience from scratch; you’ll provide the overarching concepts, create visual mock-ups, prototypes and the final designs. You’ll be working with an established brand and one with a well developed identity, this means you’ll need to be creative but within the context of a wider visual language. To create a memorable customer experience you’ll need to develop a deep understanding of the brand and the technology they create as well as the problems facing automotive retail today.  What experience you’ll need to apply Experience within retail / service design. Automotive experience beneficial but not required. Confident user of 3D Cad and 3DS Max. Creative and conceptual; able to sketch, scamp and iterate new ideas. An ability to mock-up or prototype ideas, preferably in physical form (cardboard engineering). Adobe CC experience in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. A good communicator, able to sell ideas and collaborate with other creatives.
