They have partnered with leading brands such as Fox, AAA, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, DocuSign, EventBrite, Eurostar, Coursera and Splunk.They are looking for an experienced software engineer to join their team in the UK to help build and shape the future of their product.  You will be working closely in a cross-functional team with other engineers, product managers and our UI/UX designers. As well as this you will be responsible for owning development projects from start to completion; this includes helping plan features, build services and deploy infrastructure.What you will be doing: Work in a talented cross-functional team to develop new user-facing features using JavaScript on both the front-end and back-end. Build and maintain micro services running on AWS. Write automated unit tests and end-to-end tests for your code and services. Quality is incredibly important to us and everybody is responsible for it. Participate in agile ceremonies; regularly and sustainably delivering value in two-week sprints. Work with our existing AWS platform team to deploy infrastructure using Kubernetes Help out occasionally on the front-end and assist our UI engineers with our React SPA. Help influence the overall architecture and direction of the application.   What experience you will need to apply: You are user focused – we solve our customer’s problems together; everybody has a say in planning, design & execution. You’re familiar with both relational databases and NoSQL solutions and you know when to use each. 5 years of overall experience with at least 2 years of experience deploying and maintaining microservices on AWS. You love identifying new technologies, patterns, and techniques and planning out how we can apply them to improve productivity, code quality and user experience. Affinity for profiling and analysing code to identify areas for improvement. You understand modern frontend concepts such as component libraries, modular CSS and bundlers. React knowledge would be a distinct advantage but is not a necessity. They are looking for someone who will understand their problems and come up with creative solutions that work within the parameters of their system. They work in a very hands-on way and this role will operate in a split between both hands off management but also hands on coding. You will be responsible for: Helping to lead a team of eager developers building html5 JAM-applications, using Typescript and react on the frontend, and Typescript/Graphql on the backend. What experience you’ll need Proven background in testing with ability to define and develop QA processes.  Knowledge of designing, developing and executing functional tests.  Automated testing capability using things like Selenium, Cucumber, Robot or similar.   Manual testing skills with solid defect tracking knowledge (JIRA or similar).  Coding skills or ability to read code; specifically Ruby, Node, Python or C++.  Appreciation for DevOps ways of working.  Any embedded testing knowledge is desirable.  Any awareness of consumer electronics would be very beneficial.  What you’ll be doing This role takes ownership of the design, development and future improvement of the business’ QA processes, looking to evolve current ways of working, introduce modern tooling ensuring software that the Developers produce is clean and bug free. It’s delivery-focused and needs a mixture of manual and automated testing capability. Due to business mergers the wider tech stack is very diverse and includes Ruby, Node, Python and C++. The long-term aim is to migrate to C++ or Node depending on the product, so an adaptable type with a willingness to pick up new tech as you go would be ideal. There is a focus on automating as much as possible moving forward. You’ll be working within the software team (projects are usually 3-5 developers and 1 tester) using agile methods, participating in sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives. Estimate tasks, write test schedules, write and execute story tests. You will also automate new functional test cases and run automated regression tests. You’ll be contributing to software testing standards and policies under the direction of the lead test engineer and dev manager. Over time you will gain a lot of knowledge, you must be committed to the sprint most of the time but you will have the opportunity to learn automation and pick up some great new skills. What you’ll get in return for your talents As well as getting paid a generous salary you will be entitled to 25 days holiday, flexi-time (core hours 10-12 and 2-3 Monday to Friday, 37.5 hour working week) and up to 3/4 days remote working.
