    Lead QA

A hugely successful digital specialist in Bristol with a reputation for innovation and quality are looking to add a Lead QA to their 25 strong technical team.  They’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic, experienced in Manual and Automation testing with plenty of experience testing across .NET and JavaScript. Does this describe you so far? What skills you'll be needing Excellent understanding of testing principles and methodologies. Comfortable carrying out both manual and automated UI and API testing. Using automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress). Excellent understanding of security best practice and approaches to testing, in line with industry standards. and guidelines (e.g., NCSC, OWASP). Good understanding of accessibility and SEO guidelines and best practice. Good understanding of contemporary software architecture approaches. Experience of testing within an Agile delivery team. Performance/Load testing tools (e.g., JMeter). Mobile Application Testing. Nice to have but not essential Cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., Azure, AWS). CI/CD and Build pipelines. Code branching & Pull requests. What you'll be doing Working alongside and leading some seriously talented testers, you’ll be able to improve every element of your game on projects that are genuinely exciting.  They’re constantly inventing and re-inventing so need someone who keeps a keen interest in the latest and emerging techniques.  Projects will include telematic app testing and complex web testing through to eCommerce and CMS build testing. Responsibilities include; Leading projects, mentoring other members of the QA team, contributing to improving their ways of working and processes, exploring and encouraging the use of cutting-edge technology, feeding in to estimates for projects, communicating complex scenarios and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences, solving interesting problems of all shapes and sizes.     Manual Tester

With a new owner and inspiring CEO on a global shift they are looking for a junior-mid level Tester to join them in Bristol.   What skills you’ll be needing Proven background in web application testing, preferably in an Agile setting.  Knowledge of desktop and/or website testing.  Understanding of the full SDLC with an understanding of CI/CD processes.  Experience with Atlassian Jira or similar.  Ability to work at pace in a product-first environment.  Knowledge of end-to-end, exploratory, manual regression and unit testing.  Any JavaScript testing experience would be useful.  Any knowledge of test automation would be beneficial.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  What you’ll be doing This growing start-up are looking to bring their testing function in-house again after using an outsourced supplier for a while. There are two core products that you’ll be supporting with coverage across desktop and web apps, their marketing sites and back-end services, so plenty of variety. Initially you’ll be focused on manual testing, owning full end-to end including regression tests, unit testing and exploratory testing, liaising closely with the Developers, SME’s and Product Owners to understand upcoming feature enhancements and additional functionality so you can best define the test criteria for that area. You’ll look after cross-browser testing of web apps and sites, reporting and documenting defects in a clear and concise manner, as well as involving yourself in team sessions around planning, refinements, retrospectives and more. You’ll focus more and more on automating certain processes as you progress.     QA Engineer

I’m looking for a talented QA Engineer to join a hugely successful company based in central Bristol. They produce some very smart software for a variety of businesses, but predominantly in the EdTech sector. Would you like to join a group of talented testers and developers? If so, this could be really good for you. What skills you'll need QA experience across web or mobile applications. Experience writing test plans, test cases and supporting documentation. Clear understanding and experience of testing API’s using tools such as Postman. ISTQB Foundation level qualified. A clear understanding of Software Development Lifecycles. A basic understanding of Git and version control. Experience being involved in defining new processes within a QA team. Very strong written and verbal communication skills. Nice to have; testing complex web-based applications that use PHP or JavaScript frameworks. What you'll be doing Working closely with a team of 5 highly skilled testers, you'll be manual testing bug-fixes and enhancements to existing web-based applications through varying methods (scripted, sanity, smoke and exploratory testing). Carry out clear documentation of testing steps, cases and processes where required. Direct involvement in the creation of test strategies and workflows for new products/applications, working alongside Business Analysts and Developers. You’ll provide time estimates for testing on projects for both existing and new applications. You’ll also be responsible for ticket management including screening and triage of new bugs and enhancement requests, working closely with their Client Services team. Responsibilities also include; Supporting the introduction of new testing processes and technologies, providing guidance, feedback and support to other QA team members and the wider Technical Service team and reporting directly to the QA Lead. With scope to grow from 60 to 200 over the next 2 years, this opportunity will offer excellent scope for progression and a great chance to pick up a range of modern and emerging technology whilst supporting a diverse project base with some of the industry's leaders in tech. Please note that you’ll need to be eligible for SC clearance due to the nature of some of the projects. They're considering applicants from mid-senior level. What skills you’ll need Proven test automation experience with either Selenium or Cucumber, with demonstrable ability to design & implement test automation frameworks.  Significant understanding of integration, user acceptance, performance, functional & non-functional system testing.  Good knowledge of administering a test management tool (HP ALM, QC, MTM etc.)  Awareness of the SDLC and where various testing tools are appropriate to use within the lifecycle.  Comfortable working in a highly changeable and Agile environment.  An ISTQB or similar would be beneficial. Any client-facing or consultative experience would be highly advantageous, but not essential.  What you’ll be doing Joining a rapidly growing team, you’ll work closely with developers, designers & analysts to ensure the successful and high-level delivery of creative & digital technology solutions across the company’s client base in the South West. You’ll be expected to take responsibility/ownership for defining automation test plans and supporting large & complex client test delivery, ensuring that it meets quality, time & cost objectives at all times. You’ll lead and take part in regular sprints, constantly reviewing test processes and practices to keep the team adaptable to change. There may be a client-facing element in this role as well.
