Building a remove data team
- UCAS connects people to University, post Uni studies including teacher training, apprenticeships & internships.
- They were looking to build a new data science platform and admission system. For this, they were in need of a remote data team function.
- There were various on-prem and cloud skills required across the 2 systems, so we advised the Hiring Manager to be flexible with skills requirements with the headcount available. This allowed them to hire an Analytics Engineer swiftly to continue supporting the old system, while a Data Solution Architect designed the integration in the new data platform with 2 Cloud Data Engineers connecting the sources.
Once the data environment was configured, the 3 Engineers shared responsibility for CI/CD and deployment, gaining valuable MLOps skills that they had not used in production before.
