We are on the lookout for a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineering Lead to join a FTSE 100 in Bristol. This role involves leading a team of data engineers to develop and maintain an advanced data analytics platform.

You will be instrumental in the tech transformation, enhancing analytics technologies and data models to boost capabilities in analytics and data science.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead a team of data engineers, offering technical direction and nurturing a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Data Science to support company-wide analytics.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to establish project requirements and ensure they align with business objectives and data architecture goals.
  • Design scalable data processes and architectures that meet security and governance requirements and are prepared for future growth.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by performing code reviews and ensuring adherence to high coding standards.

What experience you’ll need to apply

  • Proven experience in leading technical teams within the data engineering field, with strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • In-depth knowledge of data design principles and various database technologies, including data warehousing and big data frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS for structured and semi-structured data.
  • Orchestration experience e.g Airflow, Prefect, Step Functions or Dagster.
  • Experience with testing, version control, and documentation tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
