As a Director of Content, you’ll be responsible for leading our team of talented content designers and shaping projects with our most high profile clients.

We use accessible and inclusive design practices to transform people’s experiences of the products and services they use everyday.

We’ve worked with hundreds of organisations and trained thousands of people to design better content based on the work of our founder, Sarah Winters.

Sarah is best known for her work at the Government Digital Service (GDS). There, she set up an award-winning team and helped implement the practice of content design.

About you

You should have:

  • considerable experience in content design or strategy-related roles,
  • demonstrable experience of leading and mentoring high-performing teams,
  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

About the job

As Director of Content, you will be responsible for leading our team of talented content designers.

You will shape our content strategy to support the development and growth of Content Design London’s business.

You’ll contribute to projects for our most high-profile clients and position CDL as an industry thought leader.

Responsibilities

As a Director of Content, you’ll:

  • Lead the development of our content team, by providing mentoring and helping to shape their professional practice.
  • Manage our team of content designers. This includes 1:1s, team meetings and annual reviews.
  • Represent CDL and influence industry thinking through thought leadership at events, conferences and on our blog.
  • Contribute to projects with our clients to solve complex strategy and design challenges.
  • Work alongside the Managing Director to shape client proposals and lead pitches.
  • Deliver the CDL content strategy to support business goals, working closely with the Marketing Manager.
  • Lead on the development of the CDL website, including tracking performance and managing our digital agency.
  • Work closely with the Director of Practice to make sure our learning offer reflects the needs of content designers.
  • Occasionally deliver our training courses for clients.

Location

You’ll work remotely, but you may have to visit UK clients at their offices. You may also get asked to travel internationally for work.

Hours

You’ll work 37.5 hours per week.  To help you balance family life and commitments outside of work, we offer a flexible working pattern.

Pay, holiday and benefits

Pay

The salary for this role starts at £70,000 and goes up to £76,650 per year. Your starting salary will depend on your experience.

Pay progression is based on how well you do against the goals we agree together each year.

Expenses

When you travel for work, CDL will cover the cost of travel and accommodation. You’ll also have a flexible daily expense allowance.

Holiday

You’ll get 28 days’ holiday plus Bank holidays based on your location in the UK.

Benefits

You’ll get a starter box including all of CDL’s books. You’ll also get a computer, and we’ll help you buy a suitable desk and chair.

You’ll also have an annual training budget of £800 per year. In your first year at CDL, the amount of training budget you get depends on when you start working with us.
