I have the great pleasure of working with one of the most exciting deep-tech start-ups in the world. With a very impressive seed backing, they’re looking to create revolutionary technology that can increase the precision, reliability, and transparency of AI. They’re now looking for an exceptionally talented candidate to join their team as a Principal Applied Scientist.

What you’ll be doing

This role would see you join the company’s prestigious Applied Science team and collaborate with the company’s Research Engineering and Software Engineering teams. You would significantly contribute to the company’s full project lifecycle, reviewing academic literature, creating POCs using state-of-the-art technology and ML techniques, implementing and testing ideas, and delivering solutions to production.

Whilst this is an independent contributor position, at Principal level you would assist in providing technical leadership within the Applied Science team and across the company.

You can expect to work on a large variety of complex challenges, designing, developing, and executing scientific research projects in order to create novel technologies.

What experience you’ll need

  • 5+ years relevant proven hands-on experience in deep learning, with at least 2 year’s experience applying deep learning to NLP (e.g. LLMs, sequence to sequence models).
  • Experience working on projects that have progressed to production.
  • Deep knowledge of transformer-based architectures and how to effectively use these for cutting-edge NLP models.
  • Strong comprehension of machine learning fundamentals.
  • Exceptional coding skills, in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong experience with cloud computing services. AWS experience is preferred here.
  • Strong communication skills, with a demonstrable track record of technical leadership and mentoring/coaching others.
  • Previous experience having worked within both start-up and larger tech businesses would be an advantage.
