GTSW Event: DIMPACT – measuring emissions from media and digital entertainment

Join Green Tech South West for an online event showcasing the work of DIMPACT, with the fantastic Catherine Van Loo from Carnstone consultancy. This is especially relevant to the South West as University of Bristolย Computer Science Department provided the research and technical expertise.

Reducing the emissions of serving digital media and entertainment products

The DIMPACT tool estimates the emissions associated with video streaming, online banner advertising, digital publishing, and audio streaming. The project convened over twenty companies from across the media, entertainment and technology sectors, such as BBC, Netflix, Spotify and Sky. All with an interest in working to reduce their digital emissions and bring transparency to consumers, business, and the sustainability community.

In this talk Catherine will run us through how the DIMPACT project came to be, the key challenges and opportunities from measuring and reducing emissions in this space, and how you can get access to the tool’s methodology.

Catherine has worked across different sectors advising on the implementation of responsible business strategies. Her main areas of expertise are sustainable supply chain management, human rights, and diversity and inclusion. Prior to joining Carnstone, Catherine worked at Business in the Community where she led the Responsible Supply Chain Campaign. Catherine has an MSc from the Louvain School of Management and is fluent in French and Spanish.
