A varied role with Electronics and Firmware design.

Friendly and inclusive environment.

Make an impact towards peoples lives.

A tech for good company that helps improves lives is looking for an Electronics Engineer to join the Bristol team (hybrid 2 days in the office and 3 days WFH if desired).
Their products are used around the world and are proud to be leaders in their field by striving to make technology better for the people who need it most.

What you’ll be doing:
They are looking for a skilled and hands-on Electronics Engineer to join the growing hardware team. You’ll be instrumental in developing reliable, high-quality devices that change lives. From circuit design to prototyping, firmware development, and working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll help turn innovative ideas into real-world assistive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Circuit Design: Create digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics (DC-DC converters, battery charging/protection) for next-gen tablet devices.
  • PCB Layout: Design 2–6 layer PCBs using Altium Designer for products and internal projects.
  • Firmware: Develop board-level firmware using Zephyr RTOS on Nordic and STM32 platforms. (Opportunity to grow into more advanced firmware tasks.)
  • Hardware Strategy: Help shape and implement our approach to robust, mission-critical hardware and firmware design.
  • Testing & Debugging: Run and improve test plans, validate new designs, and support troubleshooting.
  • Component Selection: Choose components based on performance, cost, availability, and long-term viability. Maintain BOMs and control changes through the product lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, product, and manufacturing teams—participating in reviews, risk assessments, and problem-solving sessions.

You’ll also need to be flexible in taking on ad hoc tasks and contribute proactively to a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

What experience you’ll need:

Degree in Electronics or a relevant engineering discipline.

  • At least 3 years’ experience designing and testing electronic systems.
  • Strong embedded circuit design skills with interfaces like USB, I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADC/DAC.
  • Knowledge of power electronics: SMPS, DC-DC converters, battery charging/protection.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematics and PCB layout.
  • Low-level firmware development in C, C++, or Rust.
  • Comfortable using lab tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies.
  • Experience collaborating across firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
  • Meticulous with documentation and version control (Git, BOM management).
  • Passion for assistive tech and making a positive social impact.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Desirable (Nice-to-Have) Skills

  • Experience in regulated sectors (medical, automotive, aerospace, etc.).
  • EMC testing/debugging expertise.
  • Familiarity with audio circuit design.
  • Knowledge of low-power wireless tech (Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, cellular).
  • DFM for PCBs.
  • Exposure to CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or Fusion 360).

What you’ll get in return for your talents
A comprehensive benefits package, a friendly and inclusive team, an impact towards making a significant difference to peoples lives.
