Gain hands-on experience across support, QA, testing automation and development.

Hybrid working (1-2 days in Central Bristol).

Launch your development career with hands-on exposure to support, QA, automation and software engineering.

We’re working with a growing technology business that develops market-leading SaaS products used by well-known organisations across the UK. They’re looking for a Junior Support and QA Developer (TypeScript/Node.js) to join their team and help deliver outstanding customer support while developing the technical skills needed to become a software engineer. This is a varied role that combines customer interaction, software testing and development work, making it a great opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their career in technology.

What experience you’ll need to apply

  • Demonstrable experience using TypeScript and JavaScript.
  • Experience building applications with React.
  • Experience working directly with customers, users or clients.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Enthusiasm for technology and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Experience in a software support environment would be beneficial.
  • QA or software testing experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with enterprise software would be useful.
  • Personal coding projects, portfolios or technical side projects are welcomed.
  • An interest in progressing towards a software engineering career.

What you’ll be doing

This position sits across customer support, quality assurance and software development, giving you exposure to several areas of the business from day one.
You’ll be helping customers resolve technical queries, triaging support tickets and ensuring issues reach the right people when required. You’ll also deliver customer training sessions, create helpful documentation and produce reports that support both clients and internal teams.

A significant part of the role will focus on QA and testing activities. You’ll test new functionality before releases, identify issues and contribute to improving testing processes. There will also be opportunities to develop and expand automated testing coverage as the products continue to evolve.

Alongside support and QA responsibilities, you’ll contribute to software development projects. This will include investigating and resolving bugs, assisting with feature delivery, writing automated tests and creating internal tools and integrations. Through mentoring, paired programming and formal training, you’ll steadily build your skills and move towards a more development-focused position over time.

What you’ll get in return for your experience

There’s a competitive salary (£28-35K), hybrid working with an expectation of attending the Bristol office one day per week initially, potentially increasing to two days over time, 33 days of annual leave including public holidays, a two-week shutdown over the Christmas and New Year period, a Health Cash Plan and regular social events throughout the year. Most importantly, you’ll have access to experienced mentors, ongoing training and genuine career progression opportunities designed to help you develop into a software engineer.
