A well-funded, fast-growing SaaS start-up are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join their team. A background in AWS, PHP environments and knowledge of network security is essential.

Technical skills you’ll need

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or Architect, with a strong background in managing cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Deep expertise in AWS services, Kubernetes, and containerisation technologies.
  • Solid understanding of MySQL databases, including replication and scaling challenges.
  • Proficiency in network architecture, security, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and auto-scaling in a cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of PHP environments and experience in managing horizontally-scaled systems.
  • Familiarity with message queue systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and project management skills.

What you’ll be doing

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you’ll maintain and optimise their existing AWS infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability. Expertly manage Kubernetes clusters and orchestrate containerised applications as well as work towards an IaaC-defined infrastructure using tools like Terraform. Oversee MySQL databases, focusing on efficient replication and scaling. Design and implement robust networking solutions, enhancing security and performance. Integrate Cloudflare API Shield & Turnstile into their defence stack. Develop comprehensive monitoring systems to pre-emptively address issues. Improve network, infrastructure and application log aggregation + dashboarding.
Implement and manage auto-scaling and horizontally-scaled PHP and MySQL setups to handle varying workloads effectively. Efficiently manage message queues, ensuring smooth data handling and processing. Strategically plan and execute the migration of their infrastructure from AWS to an alternative platform, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance in the new environment.
