Balancing Profit & Purpose feat. Propellernet

Based in Brighton, Propellernet is a performance marketing agency and certified B Corp, specialising in helping brands grow their visibility and impact through digital PR, performance marketing and innovation.

We had a chat with Gill Sheen, General Manager at Propellernet. She shares their journey to becoming a B Corp, why joining the movement to balance profit and purpose was a natural next step for the business, and how certification is helping them deliver measurable impact for our team, clients, community, and the planet.

Who are you as a business and what makes your business offering unique?

Based in Brighton, we’re a growth-obsessed performance marketing agency and certified B Corp. We help brands grow their visibility and impact online through 3 core pillars of digital PR, Performance Marketing and Innovation through data driven, strategic, tech enabled and creative solutions.

What makes us different is our commitment to using business as a force for good. Alongside commercial performance, we prioritise people and planet, embedding sustainability, wellbeing and purpose into how we work.

What got you interested in joining the movement to balance profit and purpose and what has been the journey so far?

We’ve always believed that businesses can be a force for good, long before we certified as a B Corp in 2021. But joining the B Corp movement gave us a structure and community to deepen that commitment.

Since then, we’ve recertified in 2025 with a score of 99.4, made our operations carbon neutral for our full history, halved our emissions since 2019 and have supported the planting of over one million trees. Adding bee restoration into that mix was a natural next step and we’ve funded 1 million bees so far in Kenya, in a process that supports both people and planet, with 2 million more planned in 2025 and a further 7 million bees planned by 2027!

Being part of this movement has kept us accountable and inspired. It’s not about being perfect, but about making better choices every day.

Just as importantly, we believe purpose also means creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong. We’ve built an inclusive culture that actively welcomes and supports difference, whether that’s through our DE&I board, education programs and training, enhanced family policies or flexible working that works for the whole person, not just the job title.

In your case, what does it mean for your workers, customers, community and environmental considerations?

For our team, it means meaningful work in a supportive culture, with benefits like unlimited holiday, a monthly self-care fund and inclusive policies that recognise the realities of life, whether that’s support for baby loss, menopause or mental health. It also means working in an environment that values inclusion; flexibility isn’t a perk, but a principle and our DE&I efforts are built into how we work, not bolted on.

For our customers, it means working with a partner who brings both digital expertise and a values-led approach. We work collaboratively to deliver performance, while also exploring sustainable choices, whether that’s ethical media buying or greener tech infrastructure.

For our community, we support local initiatives, host sustainability meetups and contribute time and resources to social causes. Inclusion runs through this too, whether we’re amplifying diverse voices or making things more accessible, from our recruitment process to our website.

And for the planet, we’re not just offsetting, we’re restoring. We weren’t going to stop when we achieved our goal of planting 1 million trees. Our support of beehives in Veritree’s reforestation sites helps pollinate native plants, improve biodiversity and support communities with income from honey, wax and royal jelly. It’s one of many steps we’re taking to ensure our environmental actions are rooted in long-term, measurable impact.
