Microbiology Technician

Join an innovative biotechnology company developing advanced microbial and bioprocess technologies.
This is a hands-on laboratory role supporting strain development and screening programmes through microbiology, molecular biology and analytical laboratory activities. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary R&D team, contributing to the execution of screening campaigns and routine laboratory workflows.

What you’ll be doing

  • Performing microbial culture, inoculation, plating and restreaking activities using aseptic techniques.
  • Running screening campaigns involving multiple shake-flask cultures and plate-based workflows in parallel.
  • Preparing, maintaining and tracking microbial cultures and samples with complete traceability.
  • Supporting molecular biology workflows including transformations, colony picking and minipreps.
  • Performing routine laboratory measurements including optical density and plate-reader assays.
  • Supporting sample preparation, chemical extractions and analytical workflows where required.
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory records and ensuring timely documentation of experimental work.
  • Following SOPs, laboratory procedures and quality standards to ensure reliable results.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to support research and development activities.

What you’ll need

  • BSc, Licence Professionnelle, BTS or equivalent qualification in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Practical laboratory experience in microbiology through industry, internships, placements or academic research.
  • Strong understanding of microbiological techniques and aseptic working practices.
  • Experience handling microbial cultures and executing laboratory protocols accurately.
  • Excellent sample organisation, labelling discipline and data integrity.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple experiments simultaneously.
  • Good data recording, analysis and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high laboratory standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as transformations, colony picking or minipreps.
  • Experience with high-throughput screening workflows.
  • Exposure to plate readers, optical density measurements or laboratory automation systems.
  • Experience with liquid-handling platforms such as VIAFLO or Opentrons.
  • Experience supporting analytical or chemical extraction workflows.
  • Previous experience within a biotechnology, microbiology or industrial R&D environment.
